Accessories EVO car dock now available?

mr. virginia,

in my setup i can easily switch from portrait to landscape going clockwise. once in the landscape position, i still have the ability to angle the display toward me as well.

i understand your situation however not everyone will encounter that issue you speak of.

very nice vids btw!

yeah i would've just liked to go counter clockwise instead of having to turn the thing almost 360 degrees (clockwise) lol

and thanks!

Ordered mine from Tony and received it very quickly, works great, thanks!

Glad you're liking it! I played with mine today for about 20 minutes and finally got it positioned exactly where I wanted it on my windshield.

A couple pointers if you guys haven't figured this out yet:

1) The suction cup needs to be rotated to a loose position before mounting. When mounting, push the device firmly down while twisting until you hear a pop. One of the best suction devices I have ever seen, well designed.
2) The micro usb port on the base is sometimes covered by a small black tab. If you cannot find the charging port, play around with that tab until it's visible.

If anyone still needs any of these, let me know: tony.harlan@sprint.com

Hey Philadelphia area people:

I just went to the Sprint store in the King of Prussia mall, fully prepared to order the car dock. When I asked the rep to look it up, she said there was no need...she had them in stock! She said they got them in about a week ago.

AND, if I purchased a second accessory, I got 20% off of BOTH. So I got a silicone case and the car dock for $63 tax included!

Yep, we got about 15 docks in our store late last week. No news on the HDMI dock yet, but will keep everyone posted. I'm looking in the warehouse daily.

I sent you an email about getting me a dock. I called the spokane store and they said the warehouse was out of stock.

thanks in advance if you can get this done.

I also asked for a car charger. is anyone here using the sprint charger? what amperage does it charge at? anyone know of any better car charger to look at at? i will be using navigation and music or pandora at the same time.

Got your email. If the warehouse is out of stock, I'll grab one from our shelf and send it to you free of charge. I'll check on the amps on all four of our micro car chargers, but I'm pretty sure they're all the same. The rugged charger with the flashlight might be higher, but I won't know until I get into the office in a couple hours.

I was able to walk right into the Sprint store and pick one up (Actually had to pick another one up since the first one was busted). For some reason, they are not out on the floor in stock. I asked if they had them and for some reason they keep them in the back and none were on display....

Anyway, anyone having issues keep a charge while the phone is in the dock? See my thread.

Just in case others aren't posting in the other thread, this is a phone safety cutoff when it gets too hot, not the charger issue.

I got the email too today. It looks nice! Comes with a car charger. I have a dock already but I like the looks of this one the way your phone goes in.

It looks better, doesn't hide the camera so if you want to record your driving or whatever cool.

I saw one of these yesterday in the store. The customer brought it in to compare with the HTC dock. Long story short, he decided to go with the HTC dock and return this one because it feels cheap and the suction cup felt like it was going to fall off.
Just a little fyi for those of you considering this.

Tony, I sent you an email about this, but is there a way to adjust the volume when the phone is plugged into the dock and has the 3.5mm jack connected? Seems like the dock throws it into the highest volume and it can't be adjusted at all. It's causing the sound quality to be diminished (with music) when I'm using an adaptor to play my music in my car.

Just did some testing and found out that it is froyo this causing the fixed volume problem, whenever pin 4 is grounded which automatically places the phone into dock mode, it fixes the volume at about 3/4 up..i tested it by using my homemade dock cable. i also disassembled my dock, there are only 2 wires going into it, power to pin 1,and ground to pins 4 and 5.
Shitty.

Damn, so that means no quick fix. If only my OEM stereo weren't such a PITA to upgrade, I'd probably not be worried about this at all...LOL..

It's really not a huge deal breaker for me, but I'm strongly considering selling the OEM and trying the ProClip one out...and/or just finding alternative ways to connect to my stereo (gonna try a FM transmitter to see if it makes a difference).

Thanks for helping me with my order the other day. should I be able to see the order when I log into sprint? or just on my next bill? just wondering.

couldn't you just set your phone not to automatically dock? then set up one of your home screens for the things you will use while docked?

Any time you bill to your account, it should always be on your next bill. If not, then it may have hit right on your billing cycle and it would be on the next one after that. Shipping is always free.

No. Already tried that. Unfortunately, the audio issue isn't connected to the Car Panel app (I'm using Custom Car Home, but same difference except Custom Car Home is customizable and goes into landscape mode).

I tried putting the phone into the dock w/o the automatic dock app launcher set and used launcher pro. Once it was plugged into the dock, plugged in the adaptor to see if it would make a difference, but same situation (audio bumped up and unchangable when the 3.5mm jack is plugged in while the phone is in the actual dock).

So, my last resort is to try an fm transmitter (which I've already purchased) to see if that'll help. It really isn't that big a deal because I also have a cd changer in my car, but being able to listen to music on my phone allows me a lot more music options.

Worse case scenario, I'll only use the dock for when I need the NAV. If I want to listen to music, then I'll leave the phone off the dock and charge directly to the phone (rather than through the dock).

Can anybody provide some feedback on the 3m sticker? I have a perfect spot on my car for the dock, but I dont want to ruin the dash of my brand new car. Will the adhesive safely come off without messing up the dash when its time to remove it?

I personally have installed five of these for my friends and family, but have not once used the 3M patch. I'm sorry I am no help here :(

in my experience, 3M makes quality stuff, especially adhesives when it comes to things like this. i personally wouldn't chance it if you care about your dash that much. window mount it ;)

It goes into dock mode by grounding pin 4 on the micro usb.
The charging setup is pin 1 power, pin 5 ground.

Is there a way to physically modify the connector, either on the HTC dock or on the charger I'm plugging into the dock, so that pin 4 is no longer grounded and the phone won't go into "dock" mode (i.e., fixed volume)?

I wonder if I could somehow remove the pin?

Anyone?

Shitty.

So could I disassemble my dock and disconnect the ground to pin 4 to disable this "feature"?

Since you've taken your dock apart to do this, is this feasible?

Thanks!
