EVO LTE vs. Galaxy Nexus..... differences?

Easy decision as a previous Nexus owner, Evo 4G LTE any day of the week (shame I don't have the option of getting one here in NZ though). Better camera, hardware camera key, expandable memory, much better screen (present One X owner so actual experience of both screens). Only reason to get a Nexus is if you can easily live with the storage situation and must have stock updates and always have the latest OS version.

anyone know if there is a notification light on this EVO LTE? I know the Galaxy Nexus has one as I was just playing with it

There most certainly is a notification LED on the Evo 4G LTE. It resides under the earpiece speaker grille like on previous iterations of the Evo. I cannot find a picture or video at this time, but do have a confirmation post from someone that has used the Evo 4G LTE. Phil from AndroidCentral is awesome and has more than proven to be a reliable source over time.

Aren't the on screen buttons native to ICS regardless? I just thought the capacitive buttons on the LTEvo / One X were in addition to the on screen buttons (not in replacement of).

A phone that has capacitive buttons does not show the on screen buttons so they replace on screen on the EVO. With the EVO with it's 3 button design though, there will be instances that an onscreen menu button will appear.

Correct. Just to expand on this -- the ICS design guidelines have eliminated the "Menu" option, and have essentially moved this to the upper task bar. However, there are tons of legacy apps (everything pre ICS) that still use the menu button, and so for the Galaxy Nexus and other ICS devices with "soft" or "onscreen" buttons, a little menu button (three dots) appear next to the onscreen buttons.

However, since the Evo and One X have capacitive buttons with the menu button (b/c the menu button is phased out per ICS design spec), the tradeoff is that one large onscreen button will be at the bottom just for the menu button.

It's not the prettiest or most elegant thing, but on the otherhand, it's space that normally would have been taken up by onscreen buttons anyway so we don't lose anything compared to the galaxy nexus, and as apps are updated to move away from the old design spec, we will hopefully see the menu thing disappear and get back more screen real estate.

EVO all the way for me too. I am pre ordering on Monday at Best Buy. And today I want to stop in an AT&T store and just check out the One-X

ok can the new evo do google hangout and paroramic photos and face unlock live effects android beam too? i was gonna buy the nexus friday but now wondering if i should wait on this ?

Only thing the Galaxy Nexus has going for it is it's a "Nexus pure Google phone" which usually means first to be updated. Take that away your left with a bad plastic Samsung junk phone with a over-hyped pentile screen & over heating issues, yuk.

I went to pre order an evo lte the other day. The salesman talked me into trying the gnex. What a mistake. I hated it. The screen is no larger than my orig evo due to the buttons on the screen. The screen also has a colorcast or something. Whites look yellow. The phone was laggy. I hated that it didn't have a charge led. It was slow transferring from PC to the internal storage.

The only advantage the gnex has is removeable battery. Everything else is at a disadvantage to the eLte.
