Shame you equated the 30 fps cap to Android and not specifically the EVO. If you'd done more/better research, you'd know this, and have would have gone for another Android phone instead, since +30 fps was the deal breaker for you.
Uh, I've done tons of research. I've been a big advocate of the 30fps cap since day one. I suspected its issue even before its announcement.
For me the EVO is Android's top device, so it was either that or the iPhone. Besides I only had a 30day window to make a decision.
You must not have done much with winmo if you can possibly be okay with an iphone. Seriously.
Are you honestly sticking up for WinMo 6.0? The most decrepit mobile OS out there? What WinMo can do does not excuse how terrible the OS is. I see a lot of users not being able to grasp this idea.
"Welcome to 2010, my phone has been able to do that for years"
The problem with the statement above is that a phone can have 1000 features, but can't do any one thing well. How this is perceived as acceptable is beyond me.
ok... good that you made your personal decision to go with iphone. which is cool ... each to their own.
but.. I would like to ask you.. because I am just plain curious.
Why would the 30fps be such a big deal to you... which I think is fixable with a software upgrade. But then you can be ok with the "death grip" on the iphone, which IMO is not fixable with software upgrade! Then you add in the data cap and extra fees and the higher price, which is not fixable at all.
Thanks for your response.
Well, everyone has their own reasons as to why they buy the phones they do. My #1 reason is the OS and its performance, everything else is 2nd place. In my opinion I think iOS4 is the best performing OS, I'm not going to get into reasons why that is, it would take forever to explain. I look at every single nook and cranny when I'm using a mobile OS, then I weigh in all the factors.
Even though the 30fps issue was fixable, the solution didn't present itself within the 30days. Ontop of this when the solution did present itself, it requires a root and HTC's current stance on it as of now is that its "unfixable". The fix is not supported by HTC, and that pretty much angers me, so I refuse to purchase any future HTC product. They believe people don't care about the problem, so I made my voice heard by returning their device.
The death grip is unfortunate, but I guess I don't really experience the effects of it because I'm right handed. If I was left handed, I would probably be upset.
Last I checked, most of us bought the EVO to use as a phone correct? And a PDA type device. So the 30FPS cap doesn't effect us at all. Most don't play games that need that FPS on a phone anyways.
Now with the iphone, with it's hardware issue antenna, you touch that section, you drop calls, you lose your data signal. Personally that is a big issue if we can't make calls.
The 30FPS doesn't affect EVO users at all? Tell that to the hard working members over at XDA who are trying to fix this problem and then get back to me.
I do lose signal if I touch the left side of my iPhone, but I haven't experienced it dropping a call because of that result. If I lived in an area where ATT service was weaker, I would probably experience the drop call.
I totally agree with this statement. As far as customizations and what can be done on a WM device, an iPhone would be considered the totally other side of the planet. Android is definitely the next gen WM
Yeah because all phone users buy a phone for customization purposes. If that were the case WinMo would be booming instead of keeling over.
EDIT:
There is one last thing. I miss the screen size of the EVO quite a bit. I think Apple dropped the ball on the screen size as new phones are released, I'm quite sure all smartphones will be at least 4" from here on out.
The retina display is visually stunning and its quality is unmatched, if it weren't for that I wouldn't of accepted the smaller screen. I also miss the panoramic wallpaper feature of Android, I'm not sure why Apple didn't incorporate this when they let users to have custom wallpapers. Custom wallpapers is meh, but a panoramic one is pretty sweet.
