My iphone fanboy friend likes to always say the iphone is the best because its the top selling phone. I like how people think that sales numbers makes something the best. So I guess the best TV in America is Visio? And the best car in America is the Honda Accord? They may sell the most. But i would rather watch my 65inch Sharp Aquos LED than the Visio walmart special tv. Or i would rather drive an Audi A6 over that accord. Sales numbers dont dictate the best.
BTW.... when we tested every feature side by side his iphone was destroyed in every test. He didnt know what to say. Then i asked him to test the Navigation software and he could only look at me with a smile. He knew he was defeated. The only thing he could say was his screen was brighter and a little more clear. And it was. But the 4.3 inches more than makes up for this.
The iphone has some advantages over the EVO. Video camera is a big one if you use that feature (i do), and battery life is another. But for everything else the Evo beats it. Regardless of how many people buy the iphone.
Actually, because of the iPhone it looks like WMP7 is getting pretty dumbed down instead of progressing forward. If the iPhone was the first smartphone then we would have a dumb user base? That is a pretty sizable assumption. If you're able to make that assumption, then I can assume that without the iPhone, we wouldn't have....
Android
WinMo7
BB OS 6
Symbian 4
All 4 of those mobile OSs are now incorporating multimedia and a more robust App store because of the iPhone in 2007.

As far as apps, just because WM didn't have an app store, there was pretty much an app for everything. It just wasn't in one place to find but they were out there.
Anyone, arguing with an iPhone fan boy seems kind of pointless to me....Have a nice day.
An Apple hater is just as bad. If the sky is blue, then its blue, if ice is cold, its cold, you tell an Apple Hater that Apple's app store is the top leading app store currently, they'll find a lame excuse why its not.
Have a nice day.
Is Apple's App Store "top leading" by app volume? yes. Is it the "best app store?" That just depends on how much of a mindless zombie the person you're asking that question of, is.
Do you really wanna go down that road? Apple's app store is "top leading" by volume and quality. The difference is so vast its not even funny.
UI, Performance, features, all 3 of these things are better on an iPhone app variant. For example run Facebook App on the iPhone and run the one on Android. There are examples like this across the board in the App store.
There are a few apps on the Android that are better, most are developed by Google themselves.

It can be a complicated (if you want it to be) and personal process. It has nothing to do w/ intelligence, or presumably lack thereof, and more to do w/ preference, taste, utility, lifestyle, carrier coverage, etc.

It shouldn't have anything to do with all those things, but for a lot of people it does. Especially when it comes to lifestyle and intelligence (no offense to anyone out there). Usually that only pertains to Apple products, though. People are strictly-Apple and the others are people who just want a product that looks great, is popular, and does what they need it to do. A lot of people don't bother knowing the competition, I think, but just get the iPhone and are done with it. I know people JUST like that. They don't even have any apps on their iPhone (no joke)! They just wanted it because it's all they cared to know.

......Even though I can appreciate Apple's efforts in the smartphone business (they started it all, period!!!)
Are you talking about the App Store or the apps available via. the App Store? Because I'm talking about the former of the two.
Of course, it's very Apple-thinking that Apps=Apps Store (and vice versa), because there's no other possible (legal) way to get apps, but that's not the case on any other platform, so the two things are completely separate for the rest of the world.
I'm sorry, did Windows Mobile simply not exist before the iPhone? Because I'm sure as all get up that I was running that on my smart phones way before the first iPhone ever existed.
And WM is still to this day more powerful than Android, which is worlds more powerful than iOS.

Sales numbers definitely don't dictate what product is best, agreed. Even moreso the iOS vs Android to me is more of a demographics issue. Super nerds like myself who wanna mess with everything and customize to levels beyond comprehension will probably go to Android. Whereas entry level and some tech nerds want something that looks attractive, has good games and just works without potential for DFU-Errors will go for iOS.
About the battery life: Yes some people had issues, but like I just said Android is set up for user-control. You can leave all your radios on like a **** and let the battery die if you choose to, or you can pay attention to what you're doing and get great battery life as I do (Rarely go below 60% and that's with heavy use).
I've owned both the evo and the iPhone and I would say that the Evo has ok battery life if you do all of the optimizations. Even after all of that, the battery life still pales in comparison to the iPhone.
What you heard doesn't match my experience. When I had the evo it would last from 7am to 4pm. My iPhone? It would last till 8pm. The battery life isn't marginally better, it's significantly better.
This is the difference between ok and excellent battery life. The battery life on the Evo didn't bother me because it wasn't bad, but when you have a device that lasts a whole day it's pretty amazing. I talked on the phone for hours and for the first time I didn't have to be hooked up to a wall outlet.
Window Mobile....yes, it never really existed. It's dead to me, and most people.
If you don't think the iPhone prompted the smartphone revolution (the phone, the OS, and the App Store), your head is buried in the sand. WM has always sucked.
We'll see about Windows Mobile 7
My iphone from 6:30am till 10pm at night, would show 15-20% left. My EVO now same settings and setup, shows 50% battery left after that time. So no, the iphone does NOT last as long.
I also had to turn stuff off on the iphone to allow it to at least last the day.

I only get 1 bar at work, at home I get 3 bars. So you tell me.
