EVO Owners do WE need this too?

I do. I wish we had an app like this for the EVO that way we could maximize the use of our limited HDMI port.

DROID X gets full HDMI output courtesy of Real HDMI

Yes WE CAN!
I mean, Yes we do

I found my way to the droid-x forums Real HDMI - Control HDMI Port on your Droid X through your link. Here is what the developer had to say in his FAQ:

Will this work on the EVO 4G?

Short answer, NO. The EVO uses an entirely different HDMI controller and diffiferent architecture for controlling the HDMI controller and graphic out. They use what appears to be a custom VideoView control as well as permission checks inside the phone. While I have been asked to look into it by the EVO community I don't own an EVO phone so its not my top priority at the moment. But will be looking into it over the next month.

Maybe in the future we will see something come of it for the Evo?

Its a self professed work in progress, but the idea of it looks good so far.

Can you imagine the possibilities? With Cyanogen Mod it lets you connect a bluetooth keyboard and mouse to your EVO. Factor in HDMI output through out the whole Android OS, we talking a mini computer. Man I wished this DEV owned an EVO! :(

With ADW launcher or Launcher Pro by being able to use homescreens in landscape will make this feature even better. Looks pretty good so far. I cant wait till we get something like this for the EVO.

Thanks for the Video.

Sorry - that program is still in SUPER beta, and he's charging $1.99.

Until the phone display mirrors what's on the television display - this is worthless....

If only....

The development community for the EVO needs to be as hot as it is for Motorola's Droid[2][X]

Do you need to be rooted to connect a bluetooth keyboard and mouse?

the EVO has one of the biggest, most dedicated dev communities. You should feel sorry for the incredible folk

For being beta its not bad, its only going to get better. $1.99 is only 2 double cheese burgers I wont eat. :)

Charging for something that beta is ridiculous.

$1.99 is a protein smoothie that I would rather have, over that app. =)

Enjoy! I dont mind spending 2 dollars, even in this economy. If you think its to much for a beta app, then you simply just dont care for this feature.

I own an X, I mentioned this is a great thing he is doing. I paid for it. A big pack of gum cost a lil less than this app. The juice I drink with my lunch cost a lil less than this app. My breakfats and lunch for one day cost more than this app.

Things we consume and are gone cost more than this app.

It's not worthless. If u dont wanna pay, fine. Dont. But appreciate his efforts. I look at it as a donation for his efforts.

(he updated it to make it easier to turn the app off n on so u can navigate to the screen u wanna use, turn it back on and that screen will be the last thing on the phone. So far that helps alot with using game emulators.)

I also posted if someone with similar knowledge that has an EVO can build on his work? Maybe some folks at xda need to get wind of this app.

Look at it like this, either him or someone can bring this to the EVO. His first step should be greatly appreciated, even if it does cost $2.00

well said, jroc. lets hope his work can be extended so other phones can enjoy what the X has.
