My EVO reboots randomly during the week, but really lets go on Fridays.
Swear to God - every Friday for the last 5 weeks - it goes into reboot hell - recycling through the boot screens and then off again at least a dozen times. It could be in my pocket, on my desk, mounted in my car, or being held in my hand - it just shuts down and resets as many times as it feels the need to.
The most it has cycled on and off before it stopped on its own was 25 reboots, which was last Friday. That's when I called HTC who made me do a hard reset, to no avail. The phone started its rebooting cycle 5 minutes after the hard reset. Then I called the HTC repair center and they had no information on this problem, but offered me the opportunity to send the phone to them for 2 1/2 weeks so they could look at repairing it. Yeah right!?!
Today, it decided to go into fits a day early, shutting down while on a call and rebooting 10 times before it finally calmed down and decided to stay on. I then called Sprint and told my story to no less than 5 people - the final one a rep from Account Services. She said she couldn't do much for me, so she set me up with an appointment at a Sprint repair center for tomorrow afternoon.
I really don't hold much hope for a fix even from the Sprint techs. I don't want a replacement phone - I just want my EVO to be stable and operate dependably. I short, I want to keep the phone I spent hours customizing, fixed. Is that too much to ask from either HTC or Sprint, especially with the number of EVO owners who share this same dilemma?
You should see people's reaction when this happens - they really get a great impression of both HTC and Sprint - unbelievable!
