Root Evo -recovery problem>*<please help>

need a little more info. what is going on?

i tried to install the 3.0 sense on my evo and i used the wipe all zip i installed all the zips that i downloaded i.e. the 3d lock screens clocks dialpad etc now im stuck in the hboot mode and no matter what i do my phone never boots back up <i didnt download a recovery

ok so you do not have a recovery? what happens when you try to go to recovery? what rom did you flash. and what exactly happened to get you in this state?

i have a recovery on my desktop..when i go to recovery it gives me options to flash zipped files...the rom i flashed was 3.0 sense.and what happened was i used the clear all zip which deleted all data cache and then i flashed a few things..like the clock and unlock screen in 3d if possible can u walk me through resetting and clearing everything and ill start fresh..btw im rooted

what rom are you trying to flash?

i was trying to flash the sense 3.0 along with asop beta 2.0 but at this point i will flash anything to get my phone back on
ok you really need to know what your are flashing, there are a ton of sense 3.0 roms out now. and not sure on the aosp rom. some of the sense 3.0 roms are huge and can take forever to bootup. so it would help me to know the name of the rom. also you have recovery so that is the good thing.

ok that helps. first off that video is old. the rom you are trying to flash is called merge and it is a combination (sort of) of sense 3.0 and aosp. also that is a beta version and they have now a stable rom now. i believe the version is now 1.7.1.
ok next question. what recovery do you have?

ok i just put pcimg36 on the root of my sd card and flashed it it gave me my old version oft the htc evo before any updates its now back to 2.2
ok so when you root with revolutionary it will give you a custom recovery. i believe that it is the newer version of clockwork mod (i think it is 5, but i could be wrong).
ok so go here to get the current version of merge:[ROM] Team-Nocturnal Presents MIJJAH74z MERGE - 3D & AOSP COLLIDE [rls 1.7.1 Nightly]. download the latest nightly 1.7.1
1.transfer the file to the sd card
2.go into recovery
3.select backup and restore
4.select backup to make a nandroid backup
5.wipe data/factory reset
6.wipe cache partitions
7.go to advanced and select wipe dalvik cache
8.select install zip from sd card
9.using the vol up and down buttons, scroll until you see your file and select it.
10.reboot
now this rom is interesting in that it will reboot a few times so do not panic that is normal and it could take up to 15-30 mins so be patient.
ok i guess that is one way to do it. just flash a different rom is all you need to do.

it has sections on how to switch recoveries which i highly recommend you do. also it has sections on how to flash a rom and also how to make a nandroid backup.
