EVO screen durability

how durable are the evos?

Im not the nicest person to my phone and am not getting an iphone because I fear I will break the screen.

What sort of warranty can I pick up to help my clumsiness?
 
Sprints insurance (TEP) is the way to go. It covers Everything, unlike most the "insurance" plans the stores (like BB or TheShack) will try to sell you.

You are correct. I got the version that Best Buy sells. That case has been worth every penny. I am normally pretty good with my phones, but lately not so good. The Seidio case has saved my Evo from sure damage. Rock-On Seidio!
 
You are talking to the most clumsy person. I've dropped my Evo once so far and it withstood. I'm going on well over a month now with it and breakage.

I also vote for getting a Seido Active Case from Amazon. It is very protective. Protects the protruding camera lens and the screen. Also hooked up with BB black tie insurance.

I'm protected on all levels.
 
Don't abuse it and it won't crack. TBH, some people are much too clumsy and shouldn't use a smart phone at all.
 
i dropped it once no problem....
then i left it on the roof of my car and drove off lol.. lets just say there is more than a hairline fracture lol. looks like a spider web

had it on the roof cause i was trying to get better reception for a txt message i was expecting. normally im not that careless. then someone started talking to me and i got in the car and left. about 2 minutes later i heard BOOM turning a corner.. "OH SHIT!"

so that seido active is the most protective case on the market? i do some active sports and need the best. one that can handle being flung off a car at 25mph would be nice too but i doubt they make one of those lol
 
I will be buying the Evo 4G very soon, and I'm coming from an Android phone on T-mobile.

However, when I did a google search to find out how durable the screen was, I found a lot of articles/posts from last June about the screen cracking very easily.

I would like to know if HTC/Sprint has fixed this problem, and overall, how durable is the Evo 4G from falls when compared to other phones.

Its no different than any other phone on the market.

Don't drop your phone :p

Mine has had some mild mishaps on tile and concrete and hasn't broken. I consider that luck.
 
I've read stories of them breaking from a fall of a few inches. Then I've also read stories of them surviving a fall of a few feet. Just depends on the angle it hits and more importantly what it hits.

I suggest you purchase a nice case from Seidio before stepping foot out the door. I think my phone has dropped three times since last year. Once from about 2 feet and the other drops were to floor of the truck because the phone came out of my cell phone holder by messing with it.

I had the Innocase II from Seidio, then I cracked it by putting it in the holder so I decided to order another one and the Innocase Active. I love the Innocase Active. Also, I have an Innocase II in pearl white. Looks awesome on the EVO.

not to mention the way they clip together wears out over a few months

You are talking about Innocase I that scratches up the phone. I do not have Innocase I, I have Innocase II and I don't have a single scratch on my phone. Wow, how did my clip not wear out and my phone was in Afghanistan from September through March and I purchased my phone on launch day? I hope you didn't buy ebay knock offs of the Innocase. If you actually did purchase your Innocase II from Seidio, you should have gone with the active version. I utilize the Innocase Active for everyday use. I slap on the Innocase II for my night out on the town or dressing up. Hence Innocase Active's name.
 
Just posting my experience Guy. Glad yours is surviving.

I bought my original at launch and the second was given in exchange within 2 months ....I do alot more with my phone than most...none of that includes Afghanistan but does include alot of on off for battery pulls etc.

So no....I can't suggest it.

I don't think the Innocase I was made for constantly taking the case on/off everyday. I took the case off the Innocase II at least 15-20 times. Innocase Active would have suited your needs much better in my opinion.
 
With prices between $25-35, do you guys think it's really worth it?

With TEP, it's a $50 deductible (or at least it was, someone pls correct me if it's gone up for these 4g smartphones).

If I can get a new phone for $50, why spend $30 on a case when the screen can STILL break if i drop it on the street? It'll prevent scratches to the plastic, but who cares if your plastic is brand-new when no one sees it under the case?

EDIT: I know many of you have rooted your phones, spent hours of time getting them how you want, etc, so I know you dont want to go through all that with a new device. But assuming you're a "typical" user and could just data xfer most all your stuff from old cracked phone to new, am I out of line here?
