Root Evo Shift z4root confusion!

I want to root my phone so that I can erase the stock apps, but I am scared to do it permanently because it seems really difficult and I don't want to brick-ify my phone. I tried temporarily rooting my phone through z4root (I got the "Your phone is now temporarily rooted!" notification), but I don't know how to erase the stock apps after that. I tried going to "Manage Applications" but I still can't seem to uninstall annoying apps like Nascar, Peep, Sprint Football, etc. Also, I'm not sure if it's relevant, but my phone has been flashed to Boost mobile. Will that affect the rooting at all?

I would download ROM MANAGER. Back up your stock rom. Then download TITANIUM BACKUP. Back up the app you want to erase and delete them. That way you will not them.

And just a quick note.. since you are new to rooting I think I should mention that you need to take caution in deleting apps. Some apps are critical to running certain functions on the phone and are necessary for future updates. If you are fully rooted it is not as big of a concern because you can always flash a stock ROM as needed, but with just temporary root, I would recommend freezing the apps instead of deleting them. To delete apps you need to follow the post above and download Titanium Backup and delete them with that. If you wish to freeze the apps you will need to download Titanium Backup and purchase Titanium Backup Pro.

Hope that helps. You could probably get more specific information by heading over to the Evo Shift forum...which now that I look at it I can see that you did! Good luck.
