Help Evo stops charging - don't think it's a physical thing, battery maybe?

Hi guys - my Evo 4g has been giving me some grief lately in that it stops charging after a few minutes intermittently. I've been through a bunch of cables but i don't think that is the problem this time.

Evo aside it seems like these micro usb cables just aren't up to snuff.. .the original that came w/ my evo, the one that came with my kindle AND 1 aftermarket cable have all died.
/sidenote

that's not the problem here though as the cables i currently have seem to be working fine... the phone charges for x amount of time and then just stops charging. The reason i dont think it's a port problem is because all i have to do is unplug and plug it back in and that starts it charging again 100% of the time. It seems to me that this would not be the case with a physical port problem.

Does this mean my batt is dying? i can still charge up to 1500 but it is a launch-day battery...

batteries are relatively cheap you could buy a new one and see if the problem goes away with the new battery.
