One other thing ... I never thought the thing was going to seriously injure me at all .. its just some noticeable pain & the concern over the whole phone going south from a loose or grounded wire or seat. No exploding self combustion ever entered my mind re : the EVO.

Well, thank for the 'Thank You'. But you really only have 4 options now...I'm being very sincere when I say this.

1) Got back to whoever you bought this phone from and demonstrate this 'electric shock' to them. Make sure that they feel it. Then get your money back and buy another brand of phone. They'll be very happy to oblige you, since they will lose any lawsuit you bring. Since they felt the shock with their own hands, they'll know immediately what to do.

2) Failing that, go see a reputable medical doctor. Demonstrate the shock to him or her. Make sure he or she feels the shock. If they can feel it, then you are an instant millionaire...find any lawyer within 100 yards and ask them to take your law suit, because you just proved a millivolt cellphone can induce a noticeable shock in a normal person.

If you can't do either of things then:

3) Go see a psychiatrist and ask them to verify the shock you are feeling. If they can't feel it, then ask when their next session starts and if your insurance covers it.

4) Go see a TV network...tell them how this millivolt electric shock has ruined your life...even if it hasn't. They'll pay big bucks to create a special showing how a cell phone can destroy a good, hard working persons life. You'll be a millionaire in no time.

Both replies are pretty funny ...particularly with my chosen profession .

So - can't just return it ... My EVO came via Sprint Telesales Customer Retention routed thru the overseas hub. A 1x only sorry we did u wrong deal.

My local stores were not able to approve my deal so I'm hardwired into their system with NO option of f2f contact or f2f returns (In the saga of my crazy Pre replacements, the store mgrs tried to "help out" by doing this very thing .... personally verifying unboxing, that device was another failed unit, that I had NOT Damaged them & even provided their ID # s to Sprint & Assurion .... you have to understand that even with an in store employee unboxing & me not touching anything .... I had to pull rank @ Sprint with a special relationship & Assurion NEVER backed down...... I was still charged for a DOA--wld not even chArge or activate --BRICK that SPRINT was Legally verifying & calling out Assurion on Breach of Contract & Failure to Provide Comparible Model to customer with no Physical Damage Disclaimer . If I had to endure all that for something so obvious & B&W that a preSchooler would understand, then what kind of battle might I face with something that isn't visual .. Though I'm praying for a capacitive meter or scanner like electricians & landline phone techs use to be on hand at the Sprint Repairstore that at best would put me in the same scenario I was in with the DOA Pre s . Store can't process any portion of this for me like I said.)

Next: I'm not the only one who is getting the zap shocks .... anyone who holds the EVO with 2 hands touching or overlapping edges of unit , anyone who holds or touches it while charging via the usb wall outlet that came in org EVO box, and anyone touching the phone when the processor is activated -- which on my EVO at least is very obvious - def can feel it & sound is faint but also perceptible in a quiet area .... like what my old IBM Laptop did when the disk drive engaged.

Also FWIW my 4 buttons on the bottom -- menu home etc --- randomly fail to light up & then for no apparent reason will 'go live ' & charging always makes it happen. Annoying, but I was going to live with it ... however, it could be related - cause or effect - to the electric zapping. I won't say shocking to avoid confusion with something akin to a defib device or pacemaker or worse.

Also my touch sense on the keyboard is Horrible horrible horrible even after multiple calibrations that I barely got through b/c it kept sensing the wrong keys ....& b4 u say it ... it isn't me or my typing ....

Finally the probable smoking gun is the male use cable prong that snaps into the female port. It is slightly wobbly - not tight or firmly affixed - & the silver metal of the male prong on the use cable connector is noticeably visible .. at least 2 mm wide ... where it just won't seat any further & it delivers the worst electrical zap plus looks like its going to fall out of the port any second. It should be seated FLUSH with no silver metal of the male prong exposed ... just black visible from the black casing of the EVO to the black plastic mold over the male prong.

If anyone has a port connection like this plz tell me. I'm starting to believe this poor seating may have a lot to so with the zapping , although my EVO will zap u nearly continuously although only slight to moderate discomfort when unplugged but noticeably using the SD card or processor or drive or whatever it does when running certain large apps.

Just noticed that my side vol buttons r also loose .. you can slightly jiggle them like a newly loose tooth. Not sideways but like Ur going to press to use but just lay Ur finger pads on them u can feel & see & hear it.

Anyone else's like this ? .

Bottom line I'm praying for a FIX not a replacement EVO.

After all this unnecessary & unwanted drama just to get a working phone / mobile device , I might want some Therapy after all LOL.

Sorry you do not want to hear this, but you must return the phone. It is shorting out. This can burn down your house. Even though the voltage is small a repeative short can cause the battery to ignite. You are literally playing with fire here. problems Like this are extemely rare but do happen.

You do not need to deal with insurance at all. All you need to do Is ask for a warranty replacement. You can not fix this yourself. No one on this forum can help you. Replacing the phone is the only option. If an electrical device is shocking you, it can cause a fire.

Your posts are not consistent and you change your story. This does not help you. Please do a warrenty replacement on the phone.

Thank you .

I think u see inconsistency because 1). Snarky posters were trying to put words in my mouth to seem superior & I clarified.

2). I have another directly connected issue with Sprint & palm & Assurion & so on that I did not intend to discuss but felt compelled to explain in greater & greater detail because my unusual & limited options were being called Troll behavior instead of my own personal issue that ought to have been accepted at face value & not run this risk of confusing the issue or members who just scan posts & make judgments out of Ignorance.

i don't mean to sound harsh but just your reference to my not needing to go through insurance shows me that you are merging my 2 issues and have gotten yourself confused . to say it once again this would not be thru insurance or warranties or directly to the store .... i am locked into sprint customer retention that department & that department alone ... which is really no ones business ... but i felt that i had to explain why i wouldn't seek 1 of those obvious routes. and here i am being nice again instead of acting like the rest of you people .... by saying..... you're confused READ IT AGAIN!

3). I eventually listed my other issues with the phone that have come up over the very brief few DAYS I've had this phone (evo) .... in case they were related .

Its frustrating bc I have to keep REPEATING myself & spending my precious time writing war & peace to say the same thing over & over and DEFEND myself against the most juvenile behavior Ive witnessed since preschool .

i thank the pitifully few people who tried sincerely to help me out .... but for the rest, the vast majority, i have better things to do with my time including dealing with sprint Again after nearly 50 hours on the phone and in the stores and sprint repair shops .... finally getting a replacement for my string of dead Pre's . I was even so excited that it was the evo that i had decided to forgive sprint and Assurion for all the wrong they had done to me over the faulty line of Pre's ....

you have no idea how badly i wanted my evo to work perfectly on 1st unboxing.... no idea....

The rest of you people need to grow up and get a life and stop being so rude, self important & self righteous. if you knew who I was in real life you would be embarrassed and rightly so :....

At least this group is a rare turd among gems :....so when you think you are so special you are correct ...

Wow

I'm embarrassed for you "Dr G"

:....but then again Ur probably a Tweener / fan of Jan's show so I have to cut u a lot of slack.

Clearly your IQ is in the amazing 60-100 range so you may not know My better but you should acquire some critical thinking logic and analytical skills before you hurt yourself .

I'm very disappointed with the way this thread went, and embarrassed. My only question is.. Why did none of the legitimate posters report any of the rude ones. It's the best way mods see junk like this.

I'm closing this thread after doling out some infractions. In the future - people - please be more respectful when people come here looking for help. And for the love of god don't chime in and make matters worse when you see someone is having a hard time.

That is not what this community is for.
Thanks you to those who were helpful.
