Help Evo "thinks" it in car mode/ Associated Problems

So I've seen this problem posted in various places but I haven't found a definite solution to the problem.

About a week ago my Evo started opening car panel automatically without my phone being plugged into anything. I was able to stop the panel from coming up by disabling Auto-Launch in Menu > Settings > Dock, however I still have the associated problems of the speakerphone automatically coming on when I make/receive a phone call, and not being able to adjust music volume when I have earbuds plugged in.

Is getting a new phone the only solution?

yeah this is a hardware issue. it can't be fixed easily. there is a magnet around the charge port that is activated when you place it in a dock. this is how the phone knows to go into car mode. sometimes it gets broken so it always sees that it is docked when it is not.

sorry, but i do not see any other way to get it fixed.
 
Sometimes this shorted pins are caused of some fluff/dirt in the phone's microUSB socket.
Maybe you can remove the fluff with a fine needle or compressed air (cans for cleaning keyboards).
