EVO to Epic now.. Crazy?

[dwd3885]

I know, I may be crazy but I'm thinking about swapping my EVO for an Epic 4G now. It'd be an even swap, so I wouldn't have to pay or anything. I know other Galaxy phones are going to come out, and maybe even soon, but I'd imagine they would cost more with no contract and my upgrade isn't due until August anyway.

I take a lot of photos and videos on my phone and I've come to realize that the EVO just doesn't do a great job of videos, it's Ok when it comes to photos.

So I have a few questions. Is the leaked froyo update good enough to run as a ROM with EVERYTHING working? Being on EVO 2.2 since August, pretty much can't go back to 2.1. Do you think Samsung will release 2.2 officially soon? And how is the camera for stills and videos?

I have both, Epic's camera is slightly better, stock camera app for stock camera app.

to me it seems like the big difference is in audio recording for the camcorder. can you comment on that?

I don't notice a huge difference in audio recording, but I'm sure that varies under the conditions.

Yes, there are stable 2.2 ROMS. I use Quantum Rom 2.7, no problems. I've had Froyo for months now.

My EVO just broke. If I went into sprint could I exchange it for an Epic instead of getting another EVO?

NO....your TEP would allow for only another EVO unless somehow they were completely out of stock and had to give you another 4G phone, however at that point it might be an EVO shift...so if you want an Epic then exchange your broke EVO for a working one and trade someone on craigslist for an Epic.
