Evo V 4g > Triumph?

...

Also if you use the camera often, then you should avoid the cyanogenmod9 rom. the stock ICS camera cannot compare to HTC's stock camera app; photos are noticeably blurry on cm9, but crsip and sharp on stock htc camera, despite any changes to camera settings. Otherwise, cm9 is probably a quick beast and you will love it.

I also graduated yesterday from the Triumph. For me the Triumph was a no-brainer to too root in a desperate attempt to fix the GPS and the jerky video. All roms I tried failed to do this - hence the purchase of the EVO.

The Wimax is outstanding - I went from minimal 3g on the Triumph to full 4g on the EVO. I can regularly hit 9 meg download speeds. No more annoying 20 minute waits while the app store attempts to update 12 apps at 0.2 meg download speeds :)

So far, Im not seeing a compelling reason to root/rom as the only thing I would like is 'Google Now' (Siri). Im not sure its worth the risk of rooting etc just for that. My radio seems fine - so far (Sprint Branded).

Everything else seems to be great on the phone. The 3D is a total gimmick but my daughter had fun taking pics of the dog. Is their a desktop app so that you can view the 3D pics other than on the phone?

Thanks all.

the s-off process may erase your sd-card, and you may have to reformat it. It told me to reformat my card, so i just did it. i had a 32gb card, but used the stock 8gb one for the s-off process.

it can actually permanently damage it as well, rendering it unusable.

I came from a MT that wasn't defective (save shoddy GPS - unless you were using the Sharp ROMs).

The Evo and the MT really are apples and oranges. The MT isn't even in the same league as the Evo.

As far as ROMs, it's what your preference is. You like the CM ROMs, so I'd suggest either the actual CM9 ROM or if you want everything working, Mobster ROM, which is what I'm using with the anthrax kernel.

There's several kernels to choose from also. That's what I live about this phone over the MT, a lot more choices.

I have only missed a few things that the MT did better:

1 with CM7 the auto brightness could be setup to be functional.

2 The Triumph screen was better in daylight

3 the ring was louder.

4 the vibration feature was strong enough to feel on the Triumph.

In every other way the 3VO beats the MT.
As you found out the after market hardware is amazing and cheap.

I've never seen this either here or on XDA, the worst that I've encountered is a blank sd card or you having to run a few commands to get out of a boot loop. You're not shorting anything, what you are doing is pulling a resistor low.

happened to me. the card is no longer recognized in the phone or in my pc. you are unable to reformat it, and it as if it is just a stick of plastic. tried all options including this

FIX - Corrupt SD card from S-Off - xda-developers

none are successful. clearly not a common occurrence, and i never said it was. but when presented with an opportunity to limit risk, you may as well take it.

The Triumph was the worst phones I've ever had. I went through 4 of them due to defects. My last one stopped charging. Changed the battery and charger to no avail. I picked up the Evo last week and I love it. Except for the occasional radio problem. Nevertheless its a fantastic phone.
