Even if that's the case, I would venture its because of a reason more concrete than some marketing BS - maybe it wasn't completely flushed out in time and they had to make a decision not to do it? Regardless, there IS a reason moreso than Verizon trying to play nice and not screw over Sprint's marketing.

Yes but the video on the 2G/3G is only 6-15fps at 384x288. It's not bad compared to some phones, but still pretty crappy. The 3GS does 640x480 (VGA) at 30fps, which is totally acceptable but nothing compared to the EVO's 1280x720 video.

Regarding the size I'd say it's a matter of preference. My preference has always been for a 4" or so sized screen and only recently have they appeared. This is because this size is about the biggest that will comfortably fit in my pocket. Other folks that wear different kinds of cloths may have an issue with that so go for a smaller screen BUT the difference between the iPhone/Incredible/EVO in size at the end of the day in pretty minor and in reality is about a 1/4 inch in width overall.
If you go back to some of the original HD2 reviews you'll noticed how most of them commented that they really got a large screen on a device that functionally is comparable to the iphone dimensions.
For me size does matter and I prefer the larger screen.

The manufactures could easily limit the capability of the camera so it doesn't slow down the phone according to it's specs, that has been done for a long time. I honestly think it's the same camera but I don't have any solid proof.
So you're saying if I record 15 or 20 mins of 1080p video, transfer it to the sdcard and try to play it that it wouldn't play? Of course it would if it was in the proper format, it would just be down-scaled to fit the screen's resolution. I can playback 1080p on my Samsung Moment if I wanted.

I'm pretty sure that he's just saying that you can't view a 1080p formatted video at 1080p on the Evo, which is true.
I played with a co-workers Incredible yesterday and I feel better now for waiting on the Evo. The Incredible is LIGHT, it just doesn't have a good heft to it. The weight is what makes the shiny plastic front and other parts feel so cheap. Seeing how much more the Evo weighs I'm relieved.

Just made my switch from company phone to my own. I wanted to wait for the EVO so bad, that thing is straight gadget sexy but Sprints call quality in the east bay area is horrible compared to Verizon. I'm no Verizon lover, always hated the way they locked down their phones and skinned their own UI over the factories but I couldn't resist the incredible. So far i love it aside from the atrocious battery life. Mine has gotten a lot better but it still blows compared to wifes iphone. As a bit of insurance though I only commited to a one year contract just in case the EVO and 4G coverage get amazing reviews then I'm jumpoing ship. Incredible owner secretly coveting the EVO

What's the "proper format"? I am talking standards like H.264, I still don't think it would be able to do mpeg-4 or mpeg-2 at 1080p though either.
Everything I have read says the 1Ghz Snapdragon can do 720p, I know the 1.5Ghz Snapdragon has support for 1080p video.

It can record 720p there's a big difference, one you're processing live video in real time the other your just playing back a file, HUGE difference.

I'll agree encoding video is harder than decoding video but the tech specs say it only supports 720p video. These chips are using specific hardware acceleration to decode the video, it's not like a standard ARM chip can decode 1080p video. I know if I don't use my second core or GPU acceleration on my 2.26ghz Core2 Duo I can't do 1080p video and that processor would run circles around a Snapdragon. I can't find anything online showing 1080p video played back on a 1Ghz Snapdragon, if it could I assume it would be already out there as the Nexus One is not exactly new anymore. It seems the hardware acceleration only works for up to 720p video.

Now if you can prove me wrong I would be pleasantly surprised. Would be very interested to see your Moment playback a 1080p file.

Na, the Incredible is actually a VERY solid device. Its SOLID. No flex, creeking sounds, or anything. Just because it is glossy and does not weigh 10 lbs like the Evo does not make it cheap.
You have to understand that the human mind is very easily influenced. People have been psychologically programmed to think that if something is heavier it is stronger. This is not the case in our reality and in this situation. Weigh means nothing, its all about the design and the Incredibles design is rock solid.
I find the lighter weight to be a HUGE plus over it being heavier.....then again my mind is embedded in logic and reality so it is to be expected from me.

Ten pounds? Were you high when you wrote this? Anyway the Evo is roughly the same weight as a Nexus One I hardly think it's even noticeable compared to the other smart phones on the market. The weird vertically stretched Incredible screen is a big turn off compared to the awesome Evo 4.3in screen.

i actually thought the incredible had some heft to it. maybe i was just surprised at the weight because its a pretty thin phone.
i just saw the "code" commercial for the incredible and i got very upset that someone got a lot of money for coming up with that 30 seconds of crap. whose bright idea was it to have a phone commercial without showing the phone? thats nice that u want to flash buzzwords like "snapdragon" which 95% of the population has no idea what it means but how about showing some functions of the phone????

Clearly we are having some miscommunication because I completely understand what you are saying but somewhere my words are getting lost on you. I understand that you can't display 1080p on a 480p screen, that's not what I am concerned about. I can not find anything that says a 1Ghz Snapdragon is capable of decoding 1080p video, you keep saying it's possible but there is no proof. All I am asking is for some sort of proof, be it a video, tech document, whatever because Qualcomm says it can only do 720p and their upcoming dual core 1.5ghz can do 1080p however. I am much more likely to believe Qualcomm's word then your own without some sort of proof showing otherwise.
Like I said I would love to be wrong and I am not looking for a fight but everything says otherwise.
Are you ******ed? Both are the EXACT same aspect ratio. Your Evo 4G is identically "stretched" as you call it.

I don't have anyway of showing you right now but all of my HTPC streaming content which is recorded at 1080p plays just fine on my phone.
Fine then, Im going back to my home if you cant discuss things in a civil manner.

5th, I seriously have to wonder how old you are. You bring nothing constructive to any of the discussions of which I have seen you a part of, and it seems your only goal/aspiration in life is to find ways to champion the Incredible, which is an awesome piece of technology, but only if you can bash the EVO in the process. We get it, you like the Incredible and you think the EVO is too big, to "un"-Incredible, etc...
I mean this with all sincerity, perhaps try finding a hobby, maybe crocheting or something calming, perhaps an increase in dosage is called for, a long chat with your therapist to work through your EVO issues, or maybe just a long walk on the beach with a pina colada. Whatever floats your boat, because life is too short to spend time doing your best to bash a "CELL PHONE" every day of your life.
