Root Exchange Active Sync account - policy error

desire67

Newbie
On my HTC Desire I have tried the newest roms from Insertcoin, Leedroid and RCMix but fails to setup my Exchange Active Sync account.

I get this

"Exchange Policy error
Unable to sign in to your Wxchange account because your policy settings are incompatible with those on server.
Please contact your IT team for assistanse"

They won't help me because I don't have originale software of course...
Any ideas??

Hi Rastaman,

That means i can't get the official emails on my desire, if I flash a custom rom. That was one of the reason I bought desire to get mails on the move, and the was doing the job easily....

Please advise.....about to flash new rom, now i am scared....

Thanks
Shyju

if you want work emails then tbh you shouldnt be flashing roms as its a security loop hole if you are rooted.
flash a sense 1.x rom like leedroid 2.x and it will probably work

Anyone there to help me please.....I don't know whether it's a stupid doubt...

As Rastaman has already pointed out custom AOSP ROM's do not support all the Exchange security policies. I too had this problem.

Ignoring the possible issue that Rooting itself is a security problem (I still use a PIN and the exchange policies are still in place), the only way that I have found is to use a rooted stock ROM like this:
[ROM] [20/06] Pre-rooted Stock Froyo (2.29.405.5) [Optional mods] - xda-developers

I still have the extra space gained by A2SD+, but can still use the Exchange account. When GB is officially released for the Desire, I might go back to Stock and upgrade to get it, but for now, I'll stick with Froyo.

Edit: Just realised those settings are not for ActiveSync but for POP, so you should be able to use these with any ROM

There is a pay solution in Nitrodesk's Touchdown. I had no choice but to get it for work emails anyway, works fine on Insertcoin and Leedroid GB ROMs. Can't remember how much it was though, but remember it was relatively expensive for an app

But IIRC Touchdown works by circumventing the security policy. Great, until you lose your phone and get the sack for breaching security.

You're kind of correct in that Touchdown's security is completely self contained.

If not i'll be suing, since company stopped providing BB's those switching to Android phones were required to purchase Touchdown to meet co IT security policy ;)

Oh, OK. Might have to look into that then!
