Experiences after using 5.7.893 update - HOLY CRAP!!!

I did it step by step and my Webtop was gone. I'm now starting from scratch to see if I can get it done correctly. I'm thinking that I need to do 5.5.893 and then do 5.7.893 on top of that directly, but still reading.

Just read that Th3ory's new updated base will include 5.7.893 and it's coming out tonight. I don't know if that means we have to get to 5.7 by ourselves or at least be on 5.5 - 5.6 to flash it.

Interesting thing, apparently now Android OS shows up as the big battery hog... It has only been used for 2 minutes and display for 2.48 minutes (just unplugged it), but Android OS is at 46% and display is at 16%.

Cell Standby is at 11%.

I will update this at the end of the day.

OK, I'm making a new post about this - I'm getting sick and tired of mentioning how the battery percentages work.

I am not saying this is bad or anything I am just saying it is different than how it use to operate.

Before I applied the updates the Android OS never made it to the battery meter, it now shows up high regardless.

Just a change.

Oh, sorry, that wasn't clear from your post - I thought you were making the same assumption everyone else does that if it shows XX% then that is how much battery (of my total battery charge) it has used....

At any rate, that needed to be posted - I've posted that info at least 10 times in the last month, so it'll be easier for me to link to it now instead of having to re-type it every time :D

Hahaha yeah sorry I realized I wasn't clear.

But yeah its just a change from the previous battery meter readings.

Not sure what is now starting, although phone idle and radio idle are lower than display now.

I've been on for 1:25:14 and Android OS is #1, Display #2 ... hell, see the screen cap :D

not really - our first day using the newly updated system.

Back on our DROIDs, when putting a new ROM, sometimes the phone would not boot for up to 10 minutes, freaking people out. This may be a different manifestation of that - so that the boot time is still (relatively) normal and it is finishing all of its janitorial services and whatnot after the first boot, so it is going to be relatively high.

Or, conversely, it could be that the OS facets were brought into play to run more so that things like the camera shutter would operate much faster than they were operating....

Who knows?

So, my 4g is still having issues staying connected, I am thinking its just that I live on the edge of a 4g network.

I will try the ERAC-B thing.

1st full day with the update. Definite battery improvement and it seems pretty stable. No data drops.

Makes me eager to see the finished update. :D

One more thing, 4g turns off when wifi is being used. At least i dont think its on. The icon is white when im connected to wifi then it turns blue when i turn it off.

It's the way of life for us. Be it a custom ROM or leaked stock ROM. You know you love updates. Say it! Haha. :p

I LOVE UPDATES!!!

Yeah, I can't wait till the Bionic is more like the OG Droid, I did enjoy backing up my apps and installing a new ROM every week or two.

Week or two?

I cannot remember exactly which month of ownership of my DROID it was, but there was a month where I was actively participating in the forums, testing various ROMs - I tested something around 17 ROMs that month, before I fully understood that making a decision on a ROM with less than a weeks use was very erroneous on my part.

So, yeah, while it was fun back in the day to play around every other day, for all intents and purposes, your timing is about right - you really need to let things gel a bit on your phone before you dismiss a ROM.

Now, if you dismiss a ROM b/c of aesthetics, then that's your choice, and a valid (enough) reason to get rid of a ROM without actually using it for an extended period of time. However, if you want to give an objective opinion your time frame is just about perfect.

Glad to see you've reached that happy medium between always wanting the latest thing and knowing that you simply don't have the time to do the latest thing justice every other day.

Definitely...

I can't handle reinstalling a new ROM every day or even twice a week on my phone, even when I had the OG, the reason being is that it needs to be STABLE and working, and it is hard to be stable and working when I keep flashing ROM after ROM on it...

My phone just powered off after giving me well over 34 HOURS of battery life, with light usage (including 1 hour of solid Manga reading last night).

This might be statistically significant, now, since I got >20% more battery life versus what I used to get with almost no usage before the update.

I was actually going to ask Vehtemas to consider changing the title of his thread to more of an appropriate thread title so users can easily tell that this is a discussion about the newest leaked update but......................

HOLY CRAP!!!

that's some good battery life. :p:D
