Extended battery from Verizon rocks!!!

It is good to have but like you said it is bulkier. Which in turn you lose the ability to use any of the really good protective cases. With Velocity V0.4 I'm not really having an issue with battery life now. Now if someone will come out with a good case for the extended battery, I'll be all over it. Lol

I had considered getting a battery when I first purchased the phone. But I downloaded ATK about a week ago and my battery life has drastically improved, so for now I'll stick with it. (plus I like my case way too much)

Good to hear that the extended battery they sell is actually worth the money though.

Yeah I've always wanted someone to test if they could manage to pop a case on still. Then I would definitely get one. I've been surprised before, I bought a bulkier battery for a friend with some type of Samsung phone, and I forgot she had a protective case, but it still fit underneath the case and it all stayed together perfectly fine. I just have a red "LG Ally cover" that you can find on eBay for a couple bucks. Has anyone definitively tried this and come to a conclusion? I don't want to just assume that the answer is no, like I said, I've been surprised with other phones and cases in the past.

I actually have the eBay "LG ALLY cover". It definitely won't fit.

I love having my extended battery. Not being able to use the case for me isn't an issue because I never liked them anyways. The only thing I would prefer is if it wasn't so awkwardly bulky. I don't mind the extra heft for the extra power, but wish the bulk was distributed more evenly over the back of the phone instead of a giant lump.

I ordered the extended battery with my phone back in May. For the most part it does last all day no matter what I am doing unless I get into spending a lot of time online, or when I was having to reboot multiple times during a recent problem trying to flash a recovery. I had to plug in the charger because that REALLY drags the battery down.

I have to agree the way they shaped it is not the best. It adds about 3/8" to the back, spanning between the upper end of the volume button and the mini-USB jack. But because all the buttons on the bottom of the phone are lower than that jack, it makes the phone "tip" if you try to press one of the hard buttons while it is lying on a surface. With the stock battery that could easily be done with just one finger. But with this battery I either have to use 2 hands, or put my thumb on the opposite end of the phone to steady it when pressing a button with one finger.

I can tell you that I emailed several case advertisers when the Ally debuted in May and asked them all if they had a case to accommodate the extended battery. Of the ones who actually replied, every one said NO. If there are any cases now made to fit I am unaware. I carry the Ally in my front pocket, and pull it out when I want to sit somewhere. Once I got used to having the thickness of the extended battery, I stopped noticing it.

I do use a screen film on it, and have accidentally dropped it a few times already on carpet, laminate, and even concrete floors, and so far it has held up without a single mark anywhere. It's a tough little beast. :D
