Help Extended Battery

I got the zero lemon 7000mah. it comes with a rubber back. It is a freaking beast 2 days of hard use and it still had plenty of charge of around 40%. Unfortunately it doubles the thickness and weight. I used it for a trip and went back to the stock battery for now. It basically is 3 of the stock batteries packed together.

If battery life is your concern this is the battery for you. If like you state about keeping the original back this wont be for you.
 
I am also currently running a ZERO Lemon 7000mAh Battery. The battery averages about Three days on a charge. That's with anywhere from 8-12hrs of screen on time.
 
Lol I appreciate you guys replying to my thread but that doesn't really answer the question. However, that's ridiculous battery life..
 
Pretty much all extended batteries will add some size and weight and will need a different backing. Your best bet, if you want to keep the same size, is to get an Anker battery. I THINK you get just a few more mAh, but everyone says they're just better at holding a charge than the stock battery.
 
I know I'm still not answering your questions, however, I'm about to order the Gorilla Gadgets 4500mAP for S3 from Amazon for $30.

Comes with it's own back cover and it's not to horrible in the aesthetics department...have a look at the video.

I'll come back and give some feedback after I've received it and put it under load for a week or two.
 
I've decided to go the route of iPhone users. I'm thinking about a case with a built in battery. They seem pretty slim overall and you don't wear out your charging port.

Great choice. I have 2 friends that are currently using that battery on their S3. Works very well.
 
The highest mAh battery you'll find and be able to keep the back cover is a 2300 mAh and that will only give you an extra 8-10% battery life.

I ordered that battery today, and it was only $24.95. With prime membership, I paid an extra $3.99 for next day delivery.
 
I got Samsungs own 3000 mAh. A little bit more expensive but adds very little to bulk and as Samsung comes with a very nice repalcement back.

Oh and extra battery life is great.

I wanted to get this one as well, but I didn't like that only 1 or 2 resellers in the US offer it. I started an online chat session with Samsung, and it seems this isn't a US product at all. The chat representative could not find that part anywhere in his systems.

I also realized that part of my desire to switch was to actually make the phone thicker. Thin phones are the bomb...but I've come to realize that they are damn hard to pick up from a flat surface expecially when face down. The taper in the case gets thinner towards the back, so picking one up off my desk takes great care and deliberation. If I was trying to pick it up quickly and didn't focus, I could see myself getting it part-way up and then dropping it.

So I decided that part of the allure for me getting an extended battery was adding more meat to the phone thus giving me more to hold on to. It still tapers, but there's just more material overall, and I think that helps me hold it better.

I got the Gorilla Gadgets 4500 mAh battery, and the first one sucked badly. It lasted about as long as the stock battery. My replacement however goes 2 full days with 6 hours of screen time at full brightness. That's about all I could ask for.

I specifically wrote off the Zero Lemon because there was no cover for it. I don't know how I feel about the case itself holding the battery in...while only grabbing the front face of the phone. I do however like the way they are using more of real estate by expanding along the phone's foot print to gain capacity rather than just making the battery thicker. I just wish they could have put a true snap-on cover on there. I wonder, how far could they have expanded while still getting a standard 4500 size cover on there? Could it be a 6000 mAh battery?

Surprisingly, the ZeroLemon feels very secure even without a battery door. This thing is a beast. I have been using my phone since 8am and it is now 2pm and my phone is only to 96% remaining. So that is an average of 1% usage per hour and that is when actually using it; not just sitting idle :)
 
Okay, looks like it is literally impossible for me to kill this thing before bed tonight. The ZeroLemon is still at 86 after 15 hours. I'll try again tomorrow :D

So a lot can happen in the course of 2 weeks. The Genuine Samsung 3000mAh battery that is only sold by 2 US resellers is now elligible for Amazon Prime. It wasn't back when I was shopping for extended batteries...or perhaps only the blue one was available.

Well, now the white one is available for PRIME...which means it's in the US, on US soil, ready to ship. Dagnabbit...I'd have probably gotten this battery 2 weeks ago had it been so easily available.

They've been added to my Amazon wishlist. I'll keep watching...hoping for a price drop or something. I am overall happy with my 4500 Gorilla Gadgets battery...but the cover is rather cheap and generic. It doesn't even match the white properly. It's close, and since there's a silver band that separates the front from back of the phone, it's barely noticible, but if you put the stock cover beside the extended cover, it's obvious. Behind the Gorilla Gadgets frosted TPU case, it's impossible to notice a difference.

The Diztronic case looks just right as well. It seems to be the only one custom made for the Samsung 3000mAh battery. It's shiny and looks tacky to the touch as well. I wish my Gorilla Gadgets TPU was as tacky.

Like I said, I'll be watching these items closely and hoping for a price drop to justify an additional purchase.
 
Well, I am pretty close to pulling the trigger on the genuine Samsung extended battery. I'm confident that I'll get a FULL DAY out of it. The Gorilla Gadgets gives me 1.5-2 days depending on usage. I tend to use it less on the weekends as I'm not running Navigation for 90 minutes (round trip) to get an idea of what traffic is like.

At this point, I've used 1215mAh out of my 4500mAh which leaves me with 73%. If I had the Samsung extended battery, that 1215 would leave me with 60% instead at this point in time.

I've watched all sorts of videos and looked at all sorts of images comparing the Samsung extended to the standard, and I am delighted that most of the thinness is maintained. I know picking up a thin phone is harder, but in the end, I still would prefer thinner to thicker. I have yet to see a video in ENGLISH that compares the Samsung to one of the ~4400mAh batteries. There is one video in another langauage that does it, but he's not that thorough with his closeups and such.

From what I can tell, the Gorilla Gadgets is 14mm thick, the Samsung Extended is 11.5mm thick, and the stock is 8.9mm. I think that will be noticibly thinner than the Gorilla Gadgets that I have now.

I'm also on the fence about whether or not to return or keep the Gorilla Gadgets. I paid only $35 for the kit with TPU case...and my return shipping for both items could come out to $10 total. So that's really a $25 refund in the end.

Decisions...decisions. At least I have another 4 hours to decide and still have it all ship today for free delivery by Friday :D

The Samsung Genuine Extended Battery has been ordered, and it should be here on Friday. Amazon is pulling one of those things where they don't update the order status...but it shows up on time anyway. I hate when they do that. So I don't have tracking, and I don't have confirmation that it shipped...but I am 99% sure it will be here tomorrow. This same chain of events has happened on like 6 other orders I've placed in the past 6 months.
