Facebook Profile Pictures as Contact ID's

So I traded in my HTC Thunderbolt for a Droid Charge because of its habit of rebooting and screwing up. One thing I loved about the Thunderbolt however is that it would pull in my friends Facebook profile pictures and use them as contact ID's. Is there a way to do the same with my Charge?

I like how the Sense UI handles contacts too. I believe there are two ways to do this on the Charge. The easiest way if I remember the other day was to install the Facebook app and then when you run it the first time, it should ask you if you want to pull the contacts info into your contacts list. Once you approve of that, it should then match up your contacts to those in Facebook and those that don't match automatically, you can click on their profile in the contacts list and then click on Join Contacts and then you'll be able to manually link it up to a profile.

The other way is if you have the Facebook account linked up in the accounts area - you can then go into each profile under contacts, and then click on Joined Contacts, and then select Join Another Contact - and then select Get Friends, then select your Facebook account, then select the person you want to link it to... This was way too manual and I didn't do it this way.

Hope this helps - I just did it 2 days ago and it's a bit sketchy in my head. I really like how the Sense UI handles linking contacts together better than how the Droid Charge does, but it is what it is. :)

When my phone was first booted up I went through the wizard and it set up facebook contacts and emails with my contacts. This has kept my frieds facebook photos as thier contact photo.

Go back through your startup wizard and make sure you don't skip anything. My phone did this automatically. If you don't want to do that then just install the facebook app, then once your done with that link the facebook and contact information. To do this go to the contact, click the menu button on the far left, then click join contact. Join the contacts and your done.

When you first log into your FB account, you'll be able to Sync all Contacts, or Sync with Existing Contacts. The phone will automatically merge contacts it recognizes as being the same (if it's the same first and last name or you have an email attached to them or even if they have their phone number in their info). However, sometimes it's wonky. If you're having a prob, DL an app called SyncMyPix. It's a free app, but they do have a $1 donate version (which I always recommend, keep supporting the devs, you keep getting great apps). It may not sync all of them, but you'll be able to manually go through the ones it misses. Hope this helps, and let us know how things work out.

Having this same problem and coming from an Evo then a Tbolt...asked this question on many forums including this one and got no response...glad to see that people are responding to your post. I just got off the phone with Verizon Support and they didn't really have an explanation for me. I will try the steps and app mentioned above to see if any of that works. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall facebook to see if that would work, but it has not. I shows all my contacts merged with facebook, but I just get the "ghost face" when calling or receiving calls. Hopefully something above will work.

As many times as I've been helped out (and continue to receive help) on this site, always great to be able to give it back.

I appreciate all the help. I finally got it to work. The culprit? The horrible signal I receive on campus. Once I got on wifi it worked like a charm. I feel stupid, but thank you for all the help
