Help Facebook Push Temperamental

I know the Facebook app is very temperamental but I'm hoping someone can suggest what might be wrong here.
I flashed a new ROM and since I don't seem to get any notifications for Facebook. Then I open the app and I have a ruck of notifications waiting that I wasn't informed about. I've Googled for hours and tried several things but nothing seems to work. I've turned off notifications in app and and in settings and logged out emptied cache and data, tried again, nothing. Tried disabling apps in Facebook etc and still no joy. However, I don't know if it is that there is a setting somewhere I'm not seeing or if it is just that the push is sporadic, but I just got a notification...for an event! Opened up the app and there were 3 more notifications of comments, wall posts and likes that I wasn't notified about.
I have double checked the acc. settings>notifications>mobile push and everything is definitely ticked.
Also up until a few days ago my WhatsApp didn't tell when I had messages either, actually didn't receive them until I opened the app. I was hunting all round to try and fix this too but I gave up and it randomly started working again. Don't know if this could be related?

Since its more than one app its probably something to do with the ROM maybe try a different one and see if things work then.

Yup check out the rom's xda thread or g+ community... Maybe it's a known issue

I did have a search through the thread if there were any issues mentioned but I couldn't find any :/ it's a shame as I do like this ROM and I can't find all that many for Z1 with locked bootloader. As I say, the whatsapp does work now so don't know why is stopped, assume must have been a bug in the app. I suppose I'll post in the xda thread and see if anyone else has the problem. Thanks.

Quick question did you do a data restore?

If you're on a Z1, is Stamina mode active and if it is, have you added facebook as an exception?

Also double check and make sure Queue Background Data in the power management settings is unchecked.
