So I'm rooting my friends EVO and were having problems doing it. We are going to do a factory reset but wanted to know if we have to wipe the SD card to. Got a lot of stuff that he doesn't want to delete so I figured I would ask on here first

you can always back up the entire sd card on your pc that way you'll have everything just in case... have never done a factory reset so not sure how it affects your sd card...

it is not necessary but recommended. you can back them up on your computer. just follow everything in the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies.html guide. also do you have froyo 2.2 or gingerbread 2.3.3 on your phone?

You can also use Mybackup (you do not need to be rooted to use this app) to back everything up and restore it.
