Factory reset on rooted phone.

Hi there, i am selling my rooted Samsung galaxy S2 and i would like to wipe off the google account but still keep the apps.

Is there any way of doing this? When i try to remove the gmail account it says it is being used by other applications and can't be removed without doing a factory reset.

Will a facory reset screw the phone up seeing as it's rooted with a custom ROM?

Many thanks in advance!

A factory reset basically wipes your data partition, clearing personal accounts, settings etc. it will not wipe anything on your internal or external sd cards so be aware that photos, music etc. will still all remain. All the apps you have installed will all be there, but any settings and data for these apps will have gone in the reset.

Cheers for the quick reply Hawker!

So i can just go ahead and do a factory reset through Settings>Privacy>Factory data reset ?

When i click on this it says it will delete my google account, system and app data and settings and downloaded apps.

Is there any way i can do this without deletinig the downloaded apps as i wanted to keep these on the phone for the new owner.

Cheers!
Chris.

Hi Hawker, just tried a factory reset but the phone got stuck in a boot loop. I had to do a restore from a previous backup.

Is there something i'm doing wrong?

Cheers
Chris.

Try booting into cwm recovery.
Wipe cache, dalvik cache, factory reset.
Do this twice for good measure.
