Ok I had to do a factory reset because when I upgraded to 2.2 my phone was laggy but now its fine. But now whenever I open Superuser all I see is a black screen with "Superuser Preferences" under the notification bar.
Follow along with the video below to see how to install our site as a web app on your home screen.
Note: This feature may not be available in some browsers.

Just to clarify you carried over root from 2.1 to 2.2, then did a factory reset and lost root?
It won't uninstall either.
EDIT: Any similar superuser app unsuccessfully installs.
do you have titanium backup installed? if so, try hitting the problems button, and reinstall busybox.
when all else fails.....
Do it over, SBF back to 2.1 and follow these instructions carefully and you will have root back. I had to do this twice because I missed a step (namely the copy su to xbin step, bah)
