Help Factory Reset

I had to factory reset today and it had wiped everything on my SD card. It has wiped precious photos of my kids. Was the hell has it wiped my SD card?

When you factory reset there is an option to reset SD card, if you had this checked then it will have wiped everything on your SD card too

If you have a computer you could always try a Data Recovery Software to get your pictures etc back, there are a few freebie bits of software that will do the trick, try using google to find them, in the meantime do not use your SD Card untill you have retrieved your data.

I think data retrieval is very unlikely to work; i'm not 100% certain but i think the factory reset would have re-formatted the card and doubt very much that you can retrieve data after doing so.

mbatson - Really? I never noticed that there was an option to clear the SD. I done it too quickly then. But, I emailed HTC and they told me a factory reset shouldn't wipe it. Is there definitley an option to wipe the SD?

Well i've just looked on mine and there is. As soon as i go into the Factory reset option there's a tick box for erasing the SD card but it doesn't seem to be checked by default.

It could be because i'm running a custom ROM though. Can anyone with a standard Sensation confirm?

Bog standard Sensation running stock Android 2.3.4 here, as updated via Orange. The factory reset option does have a checkbox to erase the SD card and it defaults to not checked.
