Root Failed trying to update ROM (stock)

I have an unrevoked rooted Evo, and the phone started popping up that there was a release of software 3.70.xxx. Of course OTA update install fails, so I went to update everything per the method on the Rooting For Dummis guide on this forum and was unsuccessful. I'm stumped and was hoping someone here could provide some assistance.

Here are the steps I did.

1.) Performed manual Nandroid Backup - fine (thank God).
2.) Verified WiMax image backup - fine
3.) Downloaded deoxed 3.70.651.1 stock ROM from:
[ROM] RUU SuperSonic EvO 3.70.651.1 OTA - Stock - Sense - Deodexed & Odexed Version - xda-developers
and verified that 190MB .zip is good
4.) Downloaded Radio combo at [ Radios ][ 12-17 ] All EVO Radio, WiMAX, PRI, NV & HBoot versions - xda-developers
5.) Places both ROM and radio .zips onto the root folder of the SD card

6.) Powered off phone then booted phone into Bootloader
7.) Went into Recovery Menu (ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.0.2), Wipe, and then "Wipe Date/Factory Reset" -- no problems noted
8.) Then went into "Wipe Cache Partition" -- no problems noted
9.) Then selected "Install zip from sdcard" and selected the 3.70 ROM zip file noted above
In begins the install, then immediately kicks back "Installation Aborted."

Thankfully I was able to restore my backup, but what is going on here?

Install ROM manager if you don't have it. Open it, and see if it gives you the option to flash Clockwork. If it does, it will be version 2.6.0.1. If it's grayed out, select the option to flash an alternate recovery (RA). Then you can either keep RA recovery, or flash Clockwork 2.6.0.1. I actually recommend keeping RA recovery for flashing radios. It's up to you.

The reason this didn't work is because Clockwork 3.0.x.x only supports updates in something called Edify. Most update scripts don't support it yet, and can't be flashed from Clockwork. Flashing either Clockwork 2.6.0.1 or RA (any version) will work.

I tried flashing myns to a friends evo, and it had the same problem.
Couldnt quite figure it out, but clockwork 3.0 explains it.

Myn's RLS5 should actually be fine with Clockwork 3.0.x.x since he updated it to support edify. Anything before RLS5, though, would have the same problem.
