Root Failing to unroot my device

hackndoes

Lurker
Hi, I bought an HTC desire form the box in Israel in a phone shop. when I bought it I instructed them to not root it (apparently they do that by default) and they didn't. Therefore I had me unrooted HTC desire. after 6 months I sent it to lab because of a problem, and they said they sent it to HTC for replacement saying my CPU\board is damaged and needs to be replaced. when it returned (a month later) I got a whole different piece with a different serial number. this unit did come root since I didn't specifically ask for it not to be, and now I can't revert to the original ROM. can someone help me with that? the reason I want to revert is that the phone is not well behaving like it used to in the past when it was the original ROM and for HTC warranty coverage.

also is there a way to find out if this serial number is knows by HTC? if they know that unit?

current information:
android version - 2.2
bashband version - 32.48.00.32U_5.10.05.30
kernel version - 2.6.32.15-froyo_bravo_v4
build number - 2.14.207.1 CL23377 release-keys
software number - NextRom 1.6.2b

thanks a lot.

P.S
I don't want to wait for next week to call the shop and have to go over there again and wait for them to fix it for me...

How do you know it is being rooted that is causing the problem?

It has an O2 UK Branded rom on it?

Would need to know what the original branding was before finding an RUU to return it to stock

take that back to the shop, there is no way they got that device from HTC
HTC wouldnt hand out a device with a custom rom installed.
new boards/devices are wiped and sent out.

sounds like the phone shop got lazy and pulled a device from reconditioned stock that probably failed to go through the reconditioning process

dont waste your time unrooting, you dont know how that device ended up in their hands. the likeliness is a fault (but it seems fine so they did nothing)

EDIT: Dan look at the Software number
software number - NextRom 1.6.2b
isnt that nexTsense rom?

Yeah I saw that but wasn't sure. Googling it mostly gave me non English characters?

Isn't 2.14.207.1 o2 on shipped roms though?

I dont know it's original rom and the HTC site process of downloading ruu's didn't support my serial number. I am worried here

basically it looks like a dodgy flash to me, and its rooted
HTC would never do that, you dont know this devices origin
dont play with it, dont stand for it, take it back and tell them this device has been modified and would fail warranty therefore you want what you bought.

you dont know the origins of that phone, its not yours and its not from HTC and with it being rooted and custom rom its void of warranty too

return it and tell them you want either your device back thats fixed or a replacement from HTC, not some device that theyve obtained from some other person thats either returned it or sold it to them

How can you be sure it's not from HTC ?
They said it is, and I wanna know what to tell
Them lead me to believe it isn't.

im not going to repeat myself again after this

YOU SAID IT WAS RETURNED TO YOU ROOTED

ALSO UNDER THE SOFTWARE IT SAYS NEXTROM

if htc replaced it it would be a fresh build, they also flash all units that are reconditioned so it wouldnt be rooted.
this is neither your device or one directly from HTC

HTC Would not send you a rooted device with a modified rom on it.
the devices go to QA before they are sent out

if you dont want to listen to me thats fine, its not me you should be asking these questions to its the seller.
ask them why your device has been returned pre rooted and why it has a custom rom.
they wont be able to answer it and if they say HTC then tell them you will contact htc to see if they did infact send it.
HTC will not be happy with them

why would a company automatically root a device? its not common practice at all and it immediately voids HTC warranty.
If the company is doing this without anyone asking them too then i wouldnt trust them at all
