As some of you are probably realizing, my development with my ROM has slowed down dramatically & i'd like to address whats going on. No its not because i'm busy at the moment, its summer right now and i have a lot of free time to do whatever i want after a few hours of work. I slowed down the development of Simplicity and stopped releasing updates because like all of you probably are, i'm tired of Jellybean 4.1.2 and i refuse to keep working with it. I've never had an android phone with a version higher than 4.1.2. I personally have been running jellybean for about a year now between different devices.
Now as much as it kills me to say this, the faith of SimplicityXL actually lies within the hands of LG. If LG fails to update this device to Kitkat then simplicity is dead. From my point of view its actually easier for me to drop the ROM and move on to a better device that would cause for less developing because Starting in little over a month, i go back to college and i wont be able to know how hectic my schedule will be until i give it a test run. But As far as i can tell i will be extremely busy to keep developing on this device while i'm aiming for my degree. I wont keep wasting time developing on 4.1.2 JB because i have better and more important things to do.
Now if LG does release KK for this device as rumored by the end of this quarter then i'll see what i'll be able to make of it. If my schedule corporate's then Simplicity will certainly be rebuilt from ground up off the KK update. I for one dont know how long will that actually take, which is why there will be some restrictions in place if SimplicityXL 3.0.0 ever see's the light of day. I'll talk about those restrictions in the future if the KK updates comes about.
You might add that Android L is coming sometime this fall and we'll once again be behind a version of the OS with this device but im aware of that and no way in hell i would expect LG to update us to Android L lol. All im saying is that i'd rather work on KK right now. Android L is irrelevant to me for at least 6 months after its debut, and hell i can even go longer, im running an android version thats 2 years old lol.
So that's where i stand with this device and ROM right now. If i actually have time during my semesters to do ROM development then yeah i work on Simplicity but only if we get KK from LG cause im not wasting another second of my time with Jellybean when i could be studying for a test or something. If it plays out that we never get KK I'll be moving on to better device, one with a functioning GPS system i might add
