Root Farewell. . .

WormDoes

Android Expert
Just wanted to stop in and say bye to everyone. I had a lot of fun getting to know a lot of you and being heavily involved in the TB from the start. I have moved on to the Nexus and I will not be looking back (yes, it's that good :D)

A special shout out to Scotty for the monumental task of helping me with the majority of the threads, posts and "how to's" that I know helped many of you reading this. It wasn't easy, but we did it to help everyone enjoy and fully "own" their device.

I'll still be lurking from time to time to see how the development progresses. Pulling for you guys that are skipping the Nexus for one reason or another to get a daily driver ICS port! Thanks to everyone for 10 months of awesomeness. I hope to see some of you in the Nexus threads soon.

Cheers!

I hope you enjoy your new phone Worm :D

Thank you for all you have done here I am sure you will be even busier over in the Gnex area ;)

Thanks man. Yea, the Nexus threads are a mess right now. Too many people jumped in to root without doing their homework it seems. Should be a fun weekend over there ;)

Now that is something I can't believe ;)

I guess I could read up on rooting the Gnex and try to help out some, still debating on if I am going to get one

Unlocking/rooting is simple, it's the fact that today being the first day we were using the boot img from the GSM, which caused a lot of issues. Plus, the usual driver issues, rooting with Mac's, etc

thats the beauty of any nexus "fastboot oem unlock",fastboot a recovery, flash root files :D

i saw that at first folks were using the gsm CW to flash the su files, koush reccomended fastboot boot rather than fastboot flash so it was simply launching the recovery in flash memory, and not actually flashing it on the device. apparently not everyone used his guide, lol. he did say the recovery in itself works fine, its just that the rom manager crowd would brick their devices flashing gsm roms,as it would think the device was the gm version

ill second the "thanks" for everything youve done here and all the help with the how tos.

at any rate, not sayin farewell to me,ill see ya on twitter and i may start lurking the nexus forums,i just got back from playin with one a lil bit ago.

catch ya later

Hey man. Thanks for all your help! You always answered my questions. Maybe I will see you on that Nexus forum. I have been checking it out myself. But for now, Im still TB.

Thanks for your help introducing me to the world of rooting. I'm already a Nexus lurker, but I think I'll hold off on getting my third phone in less than two years. I'll live vicariously through you guys.

I already thanked you on Twitter, but why not again?
Gratz on your purchase man! Thanks for helping this noob out a lot! I'm sure the Nexus forums will need your expertise for a long time! Enjoy your awesome new toy! See you in January!

Thanks for being such a big help, even though I haven't been as active lately. Oh yeah, I will also see you in the G-Nex forums because I got mine today!:D

Hey Worm, I'm coming with you!! Picked mine up yesterday morning. Nice to know there will be a familiar face...or avatar

Nexus is awesome by the way, if any of y'all have an upgrade it would definitely be worth it.

I got mine today, yeah I couldn't help myself, it is nice so much lighter than the TB. ICS is a BIG upgrade compared from going from Froyo to GB. ;) unless you really want a nexus you should be able to get a newer phone by the time of your upgrade.

So you broke down Yeahha? That was sudden. I, myself, am dividing my time between here and the Nexus forum. Very interesting things going on there. I have an upgrade but that would be my third phone in 17 months so I'll probably wait till the next generation comes out. Besides, you got my tbolt humming so sweetly right now I just wanna coast for a while. Of course, I have yet to play with the thing in the store, so...

I needed to upgrade a line on my account and couldn't resist.

Yeah I've been over in the gnex root forums it is super busy there. This is my 4th phone in 22 months ;) figure it may last until I get an upgrade again

How do you guys upgrade so often? I'm on a family plan and I pretty much get one every 18 months or so (usually 6 months short of my contract expiring). If you get them more often then maybe I should switch to whatever plan you guys have. Of course, that may mean the end of my unlimited data...

Also, a thank you to Worm for all the great posts you made here in the Thunderbolt forum. Your insights have helped me many times and I appreciate you dedicating your time here!

I am on a family plan with 2 lines. I have purchased 1 phone off contract. Now my contracts end approx 8 months apart I should be eligible for an upgrade again in a year or so.

3 lines that just manage to line up well and the other people dont care to upgrade

It's been awhile since I've posted but I have been lurking. Just wanted to ditto everyone else and say thanks Worm! Your informative posts helped me a ton to get the most out of my first Android phone. Cheers!
