that would be cool!

I haven't read the whole thread but I read the main post and I can't get this show any animation except the Samsum/verizon boot up animation. What gives? I put it in both data/local and system/media still no go.:confused:

If you haven't already fixed this, do you have any of Dirrk's kernels installed? If so, which one? Did you rename the animation file that you want to replace the stock one with to "bootanimation.zip"?

im in the same boat, i replaced the bootanimation.zip file with something i downloaded while also using a new kernel and all i see is the samsung logo, then it goes black and hear the beeps and the phone boots up- no animation eventhough i downloaded the kernel that allows boot up animations

I had to undo the lagfix and do a complete wipe/restore and start all over again to finally get them to work. None of the fixes or redos would do the trick for me at all. It was either stock animation, then no animation. No matter what I did.

No kernels installed at the time but had voodoo on before. Someone else as noted that for some reason a lot of us that can't get animations to work have had a different kernel at one time or another. Don't know why that would matter but there seems to be some connection.

I now have some kernel from one I don't even know:eek: But it comes with an animation and that works. So I figured it might work now to change the animations but it still does the same thing and that is play whatever animation was there before I changed it.

I've done it many times on my X so know how but don't get it on this phone. Something funny is going on and I'm not the only one having the issue.

That file has to be somewhere and I'm going to search it down!!

I really don't know why some of you poor guys are having boot zip issues. As long as you have a kernel which supports it [Like any of Dirrk's D02's] you can replace them at will. I finally ditched the pee droid for the scribble. I actually am going with the pink just to be different

On a related note I made my own custom shutdown. Nothing fancy I just took the yellow scribble and reversed the order. Simple but I like it

OK very very easy
1] DL my zip: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
2] Put it on SDcard somewhere [doesnt matter where - I created a folder simply called Shutdown]
3] Open Root Explorer. Gotta have this. Pony up the $3.95 if you haven't yet.
4] Navigate to /system/media/video/shutdown and copy or move the existing shutdown sequence [26.png's]
4a]Hit Menu>Multi-Select>Select All>Copy or Move. I'd do move because if you do copy you have to come back and delete before putting the new ones in
5] Paste that wherever - basically it serves as a back-up or something to revert to in case. Again I just put mine in a folder within the Shutdown Folder called Shutdown default; whatever
6] Navigate to wherever you put my zip.
7] Shutdown.zip long press it and extract all. This sends it to sdcard/extracted.
8] Go to sdcard/extracted/Shutdown. You'll see all 63 png's.
8a] Again now, Menu>Multi-Select>Select All>Copy or Move
9] Navigate back to system/media/video/shutdown and paste. Make sure its empty before you paste.
**Note on my SF the 1st 26 png's display like the old verizon ones. Dont fret about that I dont know why it does but it does. Once pasted you're fine. The proper sequence will display on shutdown.
10] Close and power down to enjoy your new shutdown sequence.:D

Might seem complicated but I tried to make the above directions thorough thats all. Once DL'd this entire process literally should take 5 minutes.

Enjoy

Its not fancy but its mine. Took me all of 10 minutes to do this.

Again, nothing like the real experts are putting out but it works for me.

Nice saps, I like that animation (I have the green scribble for bootup). I may have to use this, thanks for doing it :D

How did you do it? Unzip and just reverse the order by renaming the files?

BTW saps, would you mind if I add your previous post to a thread I'm compiling? Obviously I would credit you, just thought I'd ask before.

Curious about this too! I wanted a different version of the android without the big shiny explosion!

Yes. I just took the bootanimation.zip and reversed the order so that last was first. Everything gets renamed shutdown_# in reverse order.
By all means add this to your thread :)

would you mind making one or posting how to make one from the one without the starburst, the plain skribble one? thats what i use for startup
Yeah no problem. The how to is detailed above but honestly I'll do this first one for you guys since all I have to do is delete the first 5 pngs and then rename the rest. Shouldn't take me more than a few minutes.

I'll probably give this a go with the green color burst one.

Thanks for detailing the process, and thanks, new thread up :)

Any way for someone to post the default one? I rooted and it got rid of the second part of the boot animation (and it doesn't play the boot sound even though its there >_< )

Thanks!

The Com Rom doesnt play power on sounds. I havent gotten an answer as to why or if there is a work around yet.
