Fascinate: How Bad Could It Be Now?

Fair enough. But yeah LTE is a different universe from Sprints junk. Just saying that you will likely be stuck on the SF for 20 months now and while its a good phone and would be great once we get 2.2+ we are on the doorstep of some next wave phones too. All in all if you cant wait then yes the SF would be a decent phone to run quite some time

yeah i would opt for a 1 yr contract if you can swing the extra money...then you d be able to upgrade by christmas...its what i would do

(and i what i plan on doing by this summer for me and my wife...and then get the lay of the land carrier wise in 2012...and then *maybe* jump ship)

I am definitely in a 4G area (NYC), but I've been burned before. There is a serious WiMax+Android bug that destroys battery life -- I'm coming from an EVO.

I know VZW's 4G is LTE and not WiMax, but I'm still weary.

AND, I don't want to wait :)
I'm not gonna lie here... if you live in NYC, I'd definitely hold off on the SF then. As much as I love the phone, if you spend a majority of time in an LTE area, I'd be all over that like white on rice.

LTE can supposedly achieve damn near cable modem speeds over the air from what i've read and honestly, bugs or no bugs, who doesn't want that? I'd say try to hold off a little longer if you can. (I'm unfamiliar with the vzw/android/LTE offerings at the moment.)

Great point I always forget about the 1yr contract since Ive been on 2 years forever but yeah usually the price of the phone difference is what $70-100, might definitely be worth it

i would think with the fascinate being out for awhile the difference would be even smaller...maybe ill look :)

I would purchase this phone again in a second!.. Great all around phone. Perfect size and weight for a phone, excellent features (even better once Froyo gets here).

Plus, if you are going to do a 1-year contract, you will get an opportunity to get the lay of the land with the new LTE phones as they come out. For some reason, they always seem to come out with a few at the start and then the second batch of designs for the same service is always much better. (i.e. Eris, Inc.) Big jump, same price points when first introduced...And that is just comparing one manufacturers products with release times. I think a dream phone would be the Nexus S with LTE...Would be awesome if they made it!..

well the good news is froyo is kinda sorta here, not fully functional but its close and somethings are at least flashable to prove it exists

I did a 1 yr contract on Dec 29th, so I'm eligable for an upgrade on Oct 29th 2011....sweet :) I had to pay $369 then get a $100 rebate for a total of $269 for the phone, but so worth it imo. I just can't wait 20 months, patience is not my middle name, lol!

yeah ive always done 2 yrs because id get the my verizon early upgrade at 1 year 1 day after contract...but we only get that once more now......so i will do a year next and then evaluate my carrier options next year

Luckily for me we had just renewed our 2 year contract in early December. So I get the old upgrade option as well. It might be a little much, but it seems like in a lot of cases if you hold out you can usually grab these new phones shortly after they come out for about $300 new on ebay. Granted it's a bit much, but if you're dieing for that new phone that's really not too bad considering in general $250-$300 is what you'd pay for some of these mpe players/ipod touch.
