If I wanted a plastic phone with an oversaturated display I would have gotten an Incredible.
and if I wanted a phone that I can't call my own, with a crappy interface..........
, lolbut seriously...test em out and choose which one you like better! They're both great phones!

umm i can say how i feel bud....and to me looks like neon...just like my wifes inc. the colors are so far off....
some magazine or site did a test awhile back, the incredible was way off in terms of color accuracy. The iphone 4 and droid x were a lot more neutral, i.e. not ridiculously exaggerated. The question is how much better is super amoled vs regular amoled since both of them are made by samsung.

As far as the overly saturated colors not much. Super AMOLED is a definate improvment over standard AMOLED but alot of the drawbacks remain. The colors are still way off. The whites are actually more blue than the regular AMOLED. Its cant get as bright as LCD. And because of the pentile matrix it still is not as crisp or as sharp as LCD. Bottom line is that if you want the best picture quality screen your #1 choice would be the Droid/Droid2 followed closely by the Droid X. The IPS LCD's in the Motorola Droids have the best and most accurate colors, very accurate contrast, excellent color saturation, almost perfect gamma, near perfect whites, better sharpness, and better brightness, all in a package that is overall more energy efficient then Super AMOLED.
Can you elaborate? Im on the verge of returning my X for a Fascinate since BB is giving them away for FREE right now.

There's a reason they're giving them away.. had a fascinate for a week and a half before sending it back for the droid x. Gps took five or more minutes to find me. The call quality was great unless you're outside and there is a light breeze then your caller can't hear shit. The screen is fantastic and I did like touchwiz but the phone froze all the time while typing a text message or just using the keyboard in general. It took forever to charge the battery compared to the droid x.. I could go on but those were the main reason I switched and I am not looking back.

I've read that bing is the default search with no way to change it to any other, bing sucks.
Also read you can't use google navigation, you gave to use vznavigator, which adds ten buck's to your monthly bill. Those two things alone would prevent me from buying but the phone itself looks and feel's cheap. It may be durable and well made but it sure doesn't look or feel that way.

You can use Google Navigation. Verizon is just playing games trying to make people think they have to use the VZ Navigator.

It's funny here how no one mentioned the camera. The X has 8MP as opposed to the Fascinate only 5. That feels like a downgrade alone to me. That and the memory. Those two factors get me the most. Also the bing thing too..

Megapixels, Megaschmixels... the camera on the Galaxy S phones are very good, as are the 5 MP cameras on the LG Dare. Just because a camera is 8 MP doesn't mean it's better.

I just switched from the Fascinate to the Droid X. There wasn't necessarily anything wrong with the Fascinate, it's a nice phone, it just wasn't right for me, and I'm very satisfied with my Droid thus far.

Ideally, you'd share with us exactly what "wasn't right for me" with the Fascinate. People don't just switch phones for no reason. Why is the X a better fit for you?

I'd wait for HTC's next phone on Verizon.
I like my Droid X, but Motorola's software kinda sucks. The hardware is excellent (solid body, great reception and voice quality, nice battery life, etc.) but the software is not. Also, it sucks a bit that they lock the phone down. I didn't think I'd get into the whole rooting thing, but I did recently and it's really fun.

It's not just Blur. It's also the sluggish camera app that beeps loudly with no option to turn that off, the inconsistent and unreliable wi-fi pre-2.2 update, the average gallery app, etc.
Out-of-the-box, HTC delivers a better experience. HTC software with Motorola hardware would make like the perfect phone, though HTC looks to be improving on the hardware front with their G2/Desire Z.

I got similar results when comparing my Droid X to my Fascinate. The Fascinate flash does a so-so job of not completely blowing out and overexposing shots when using the flash, especially at night. But the Droid X was much worse. Always ridiculously bright, and accompanied by a noticeably worse loss of detail and color in the shot over the Fascinate. For me, pictures on the Fascinate were slightly better during the day (both phones did very well overall in good lighting) but more notably better in low light or with the flash.
You can try NoLED. When I first tried it I didn't like it at all, but they have done a lot of updates lately that supposedly greatly improve it for specifically Fascinate users.
I disagree. And I ended up keeping the Droid X rather than the Fascinate anyways. A post like this doesn't educate, you sillygoose!

Anyways, here are the differences as I experienced them. Keep in mind that I never got to test Froyo on my DX before returning it.
Advantages of Droid X:
1. Froyo sooner
2. Sharper text
3. Triple noise cancelling microphones (and they DO make a difference)
4. Dual diversity antennas (again, these are AMAZING)
5. Perceived build quality - the Droid X feels more solid
6. Universal Androot works flawlessly (vs. needing a connected PC to root the Fascinate)
7. Battery life (although only slightly better in my testing)
8. No GPS quirks? Although I haven't yet seen any of these on my Fascinate
9. Non-glossy back side - good grip!
Advantages of Fascinate:
1. More powerful GPU
2. Plays a LOT more videos, and they look better
3. Screen - brighter, especially in direct sunlight, and with much better viewing angles
4. Hopefully more roms and sooner, since no locked bootloader
5. Touch sensitive buttons - believe it or not I prefer these because they're silent. It matters at night when I am playing on my phone and the wife's asleep.
6. Slightly better camera, for photos and videos
7. Much lighter weight and more ergonomic. After a week of using the Droid X, one-handed operation was still difficult and unnatural. The phone felt bulky. The Fascinate was ergonomic and comfortable to run from day one.
I honestly consider both phones a TIE. The main two reasons I went in the direction of the Fascinate were the screen readability outdoors, and the much improved ergonomics and one handed operation. I rooted and de-bloated my Droid X. Put autokiller and launcher pro on it. I recommend DX owners do the same. Make an already great phone even more amazing, and it takes MINUTES. I did the same to my Fascinate, and even eliminated pretty much every trace of Bing/VZNav. All goes through google now, even the touch sensitive buttons. Rooted, both of these phones are a dream come true, in my opinion. Simply amazing!!
If you're considering both, here is what would sway me one way or the other:
If you need: Maximum reception (live in poor signal areas), use the phone often in noisy environments, hate high-gloss phone backs and fingerprint magnets, or read gobs of text on your phone on a regular basis (such as with Kindle), the I totally recommend the Droid X.
If you need: One of the most ergonomic 4" screen smartphones out there, maximum viewing angles and visibility in sunlight, arguably the best and most contrasty (truly perfect black levels) screen for viewing movies and pictures, and the most powerful GPU for your gaming habits on the road, then I recommend the Fascinate.
