Root Faster PRLs

Thanks for the reply - but since I am on a custom rom, the msl wouldn't benefit me... I have odin'd back to stock and tried to change my prl, but got the same negative results... which lead me to think that maybe it's my device...

My point being there is no default samsung password(from everything I have read on the prevail since its release, Ive owned and read about) for you to unlock your prevail. It is device specific. Get your proper MSL/SPC whatever you want to call it and unlock it properly and you will flash you PRL no problem.

You can run the Diagnostic Mode script from Monster. Super freakin easy a caveman could do it lol. Especially the ones eating mango salsa

i have never played around with prls and know i can't just change them while on ctmod3.5. but mine is still stock 61007. on signal i get -100 to -110 on dbm and 100 to 110 on asu. never have much problems, only when driving and hit a bad area then drive out and all good again. are these #'s good , ok or bad???

does DFS 3.3.0.7 work on this phone? I've used it on flashing an intercept and a fascinate to metro pcs and an epic to virgin including prl. freesoftware just bugs you to register but don't have to

this 11119 prl is great so far. Im going places tomorrow and will test it out on the way. lets see if this is what is says to be. Im getting better signal and speed

on 61007 - .1 - .3 mbps. Connection kept cutting, bad speeds

on 11119 - .6 mbps - 1 mbps and good at house idk about around this city/town yet

Just getting back to you - I have had my MSL for months now - that's how I changed the prl in the first place. And as a user had noted - the monster script is what I used to put the phone in dm mode. Basically the steps I had taken were as follows:

1. Run the moster script to put my phone in dm mode - obviously it works, because CDMA workshop would not connect to it if it wasn't.

2. Go to security tab and select the Samsung default password, and click send (I believe) - the program responds, telling me that the phone is unlocked

3. Go to "other" tab and try to write the prl. And there is my dead end. Several other threads do not mention needing your msl when you are running a custom rom. And as an aside, I odin'd back to stock and tried changing my prl, using the msl and ##8778# deal... all to no avail.

But again, thanks for your replies. I get decent reception in metro areas, but was looking to possibly help my situation at home, where all the trees impede my signal...

Upon some further research, I think it is my laptop - the COM ports mysteriously disappeared from the device manager... I need to run the BIOS and see if they are enabled... if that makes any sense...

On the main tab you have to select the com port and click connect before anything else did you do that?
If you're using windows, go to start>printers and devices. Right click on android USB device go to properties. Click on diagnostic com it will tell you the com number

I'm all set now - thanks for all the pointers; the issue was with my laptop it was an issue in the BIOS that prevented my COM ports from even appearing in the device manager. My devices and printer tab in Windows 7 was not even loading properly... so it was basically a COM port mix up. Fixed now with a couple commands in the windows command prompt. All set up now with a different prl. And just to reiterate (for anyone else reading this) - if you are on a custom rom (CTMod in my case) your msl number is not needed at all. All you need is the monster script, available from various other threads.

Worst case scenario - if you want to go back to the Boost prl, just Odin back to stock and update the prl that way. I did that to begin with, then installed Chicken Tits afterward... Only thing there is you will have to re-partition your card, so be sure and have everything that is precious to you backed up elsewhere. All stuff you probably are aware of, but sometimes it doesn't hurt to have a reminder.

Search the forums here because I know there is an answer. I would post a link but I can't.

I just got my phone back from Samsung. They replaced the charging port for me.
When I activated it, it upgraded my PRL from 61007 to 61008.
Nite I have terrible reception, and my data connection keeps cutting out on me.
Can't stream music anymore. As soon as the screen goes out, so does the connection.

That's the first thing I thought of, throttling. But I'm running CTMod 3.6 which means no throttling if I'm correct?

i wouldn't be suprised if they throttled, i notice slow speeds after hammering the market for apps. speeds go down to 30-50kb's now i'm on 11119 and it's consistent at 200-600kb.

i'm still on the one that came with the phone 61007 and right now at 2 bars got -80/-85 dbm and 80-85 asu and works great except in dead spots, but works for me.

I'm on ej06 miui. Now if I could just get this all day and not only at 3 am. :)

Prl 60711

Last one I tried was 11119 which was good too

I use 11119 and it's been pretty good since I've been using it, great signal and data speeds, I've recently come back to the Prevail until I can figure out how to get my Marquee out of the recovery boot loop it's in right now... :/

Cant you just odin it back to stock for now?
