Root Faster PRLs

What you're looking for is EPST. That's only available on stock and CTmod up to 2.5. CM7 never had it and CTMod after 2.5 got rid of it. If you need diagnostic mode on CM7 there's a script for that. Search for it. I'd search for you... but I'm lazy. :D

I can't get passed where it reads the device? I will connect fine to the port but will not read the device. It says "Failed.. Device does not answer"?

EDIT:
I'm getting the same errors as palmtree5

Same here

EDIT: Can't even unlock the device in CDMA. It gives me a message about the device not answering

They are changing the phone from my account to their account and have to add ##72436# some number like that to activate the phone

That has nothing to do w/ the PRL. I sent instructions to you in a PM on what you need to do. You will need CTMod 2.5 or lower to access the hidden menu that you are looking for.

This whole prl switching is pretty much a crapshoot for me so far. Im way out in the boonies though, caught between two towers which are about 30 miles away on opposite sides.

So far tried 1115, 11119, 60683, and 60686. I'm currently testing out 60676. No drastic changes really, all about the same, some had a couple random breakthrough spots. Unfortunately it is mostly beeping back into service, but not actually enough to make a call.

For me im probably gonna stick with 60683, it added about a three block radius where i live, but no miracles. Also data was noticeably faster, but no number tests for exactness. Plus i dont want to get stuck with a weak prl and have my cdma trial expire on me.

One interesting thing I noticed, with 60686 and 1115, I got a good connection in a area I never had before, so I tried making a call and it gives me a voice recording that says "You are within range of a Sprint private network, move out of range before placing a call". Also with 86 I had service in an area but got a prerecorded error message something like "you have dialed an incorrect number please try your call again" Both were mens voices, different from the usual computer boost girl.

Not sure if that information helps anyone, but thought it was interesting enough to pass on.

p.s. also, the net10 androids come with prl 61008, they are also part of the sprint network.

Yea idk what's going on? I even try to write and it says that I need the full version and I can't do it in the trial...

Is there an alternative method to write the prl to the phone?

EDIT:
Here is a video of what it is doing:

The old fashion way is to switch to a rom that allows Development menu by dialing #s on your phone. this thread has it. FWIW I had to do it this old fashion way first, now this script works on ctmod for me.

Well I'm on the latest ctmod and I can't use the dialing #'s? My phone sits there and does nothing at all?

Ya, you can't on the latest ctmod. It doesn't take a horrible amount of time to flash to a different version and make the change then change back. I guess you will have to decide if you have the time to do it. (And the fact that a different prl might not make any noticeable improvement where you use your phone)

So what rom and versions should I change to that will work with changing the prl.

EDIT:
Will it work on any of the stock roms?
