Fastest stable ROM?

Title says it all. What is the fastest stable ROM that is out? I'm fairly new to all of this ROM stuff since I just got my phone rooted yesterday and flashed a ROM that my dad was using. (ZenROM) But I have noticed that the ZenROM isn't very popular. I'm looking for a ROM that is pure speed. So, whats the fastest one? Also, I installed an over clocking widget on my phone, but what is the highest that I can set it without damaging my phone or making it work way too hard? Thanks in advance! :D

Alright, will try it out. Thanks for fast reply. :)

One more quick question. I am running 2.1 on my Hero, so where is the download for the AOSP mod for 2.1? All I have seen is 2.0 and 2.2 AOSP ROM's.

AOSPv.9.9.2 is near the top of the threads on the Sprint Hero - All Things Root page.

I ran Fresh 2.4.0 overclocked to 710MHz for about 6 months. I can't say enough about how stable this ROM is. It just runs without issues, no force close. I could go weeks without rebooting and never had issues. Battery life about 12hours nominally for my use. The only thing that chased me away was a desire for more memory.

Now I am on day 3 of AOSPv.9.9.2 also overclocked at 710MHz. It is running great. I gained about 25Mb available memory. It is noticeably faster than Fresh, but overclocked Fresh was still very good. I have two apps that will not run on ASOP; Weatherbug and Navionics Lakemaps. Not sure why, but uninstall/reinstall hasn't done the trick. Battery life on ASOP has been very similar 12hours nominally. The signal bars are annoying, but I am sure it will be fixed in future releases.

IMHO, I don't like the Sense launcher that well, but I tend to like the extra refinement in Sense ROMS:
- HTC's mail and messaging apps are superior
- Sense's status bar is much nicer (vanilla looks like it was drawn with a crayon) :-O

If speed is your goal, AOSPv.9.9.2 is a great place to start. It has been very stable for me. I have high expectations for stability. It's got to work flawlessly as I count on my phone every day! My phone is very solid at 710 so I haven't tried 768MHz yet.

Yep, I thought I was in the other section, lmao :D:D:D:D I swear I had one drink !! :p

Haha, just one?! :D

Well thanks for the info. Is upgrading to 2.2 (Froyo) good? Does EVERYTHING work on 2.2? I have been told that 2.2 on the Hero has a few bugs since it wasn't officially released and had to be ported over.

Works great for us 3 Amigos, the only thing I cannot get to work on Froyo Roms is the 3 way calling, and yet some can,so it depends on the phone, enjoy and let us know how you like it, make sure flash the Gapps if you want the google apps, and anything else missing in google you can always get from the market if you need it

2.2 is fine on the Hero - Not all are having the Weatherbug FC referenced above....

There is ONE thing that Doesn't work on froyo -
your led turns green at 90% instead of 100%......not a big deal to me....

Not only has Aosp got 2.2 really burning - but he has started 2.3...

Alright, thanks.
I guess I will upgrade to 2.2 and see how it goes for me.
Can someone point me in the right direction to upgrading to 2.2 with a link real quick? :)

Those recent 12/13 gapps posted by aosp fixed any trouble with weatherbug;) Glad everything is working now

Market was acting quite inconsistent for me. It would download and then sometimes hang on the installation. My guess is the two apps that wouldn't run never got installed correctly due to market hanging up.
