If I had an awesome PC I would say that, but in the end I have to go for XBOX 360. I like being able to buy a game and then kick back in the recliner and blaze away as opposed to be concerned about the system requirements.

However, most PC games allow modding which is fun.

You can't see how good someone is from that.

Now that's why you have scores, too keep a track of what you have done. Sure, it can be boosted just like trophies can easily be boosted. There is tons of pages for both gamerscore and trophy collections out there. If you read the articles you do see that some of the claims about the system.

What makes you like the trophy system, so you can show off to other how great you are? Or since you want too see what you have achieved? Both systems do that in every way, PSN called it levels and leveling up yourself. Quite smart indeed, since that's how trophy is recorded. Gamerscore is just scores added together, very simplified way of say level system.

Both two shows exactly the same, scores on trophies is based on same thing. What you do in the game, it gives the same amount of credit.

Why say something shows something better then something else, when they are pretty much doing the same thing. Keep track of what you have done by either A: Level, how much trophies you have and what trophies. B: X360 do show it in scores and add all scores together in a number. Both systems can go deeper into the trophies/scores, by checking which game it's done it and what they have done to get it.

PS3 Tophies give you the same as Gamerscore (called Level, in the Level up approach, I am currently Level 12), but it also shows how many games I have fully completed (Platinums) how many hard trophies, the Golds, and how many Silver/Bronzes

Mate, that's exactly what both systems do. They show what you have completed, which is rewarded by x certain reward in form of trophy/gamerscore. Where PSN receive their level, xbox360 receive a score added on your overall gamescore. This is a reward system, reward system is based exactly the same thing. In our experience as gamers, that comes in achievements (titles ingame) and some sort of a scoresheet. This is candid for both.

So here is the thing, you like it better which is great, but saying the practical same thing is better based on science you try to present is wrong. :)

You simply don't get anywhere near that granularity on Xbox. Sure you can delve into games an compare specific achievements, but it's not the same as a instant look at a PS3 Trophycard that shows someone is Level12, has 3 Platinums, 24 Golds, 66 Silvers and 200 Bronze trophies.

Now thats something that I think is true, I do which Gamerscore could be measured with how many 50's you have and etc, but that can't happen unfortunately since of all the different types of numbers you get per achievement. So it's not possible now, unless they break it down like trophies are.

I realize it's pointless arguing, as it seems everyone here is a Xbox Fanboy thru and thru and will never accept someone else's opinion.

Now now, there is nothing fanboyism saying they are pretty much the same thing and have the same purprose. Too keep track of what you have done, extra achievements and for your own fun. Say me for an example, I use GS/Trophies to see what I have done, set goals in the game of what I want on the side. It also makes me pressure me to play the game bit more different then usual, meaning I do more things like I would never do if it wasn't for the achievement. Since indeed, it does makes the gaming more fun.

I recommend you two read those 3 articles, it is a good read no matter which side you are having as a favorite.

And some people mention between the posts. PC > consoles no matter what. Since you can always appreciate everything which is what most of us do in thread. I love Yakuza series from PS3 and I'm a die hard fan of shenmue and buys the games from Japan just to play it. I always have been stunned by MGS and the story line behind MGS series and one of my oldtime favorites are Final Fantasy and Kingdom Heart series. I pride myself in those games when it comes to PS3. Just as I pride myself in x360 live system for being the best multiplayer experience on any other console for the time being.

Since they have things other consoles can't compete against and makes it worth spending cash on. Just like I love my PS3 for being free and perform good for being no cost option!

Like this movie here shows perfectly well why I choose to play online on say live, where usual my SP games is bought on PS3. :)

Console Wars Round 7: Xbox 360 Vs. PS3 (Online Experience)-TechnoBuffalo

The title is very misleading, since infact he is very throughout of the both consoles. He shows nice examples and do the best representative for both consoles for what they are great at.

He is very careful to make a good setup between the consoles, if you look at this other presentations you will notice things PS3 wins on and what x360 wins bit on in term of what they are great at.

I think you will enjoy the watch and have some use of the movie. :)

360 and PS3 owner here.

Also play a few PC games here and there but for whatever reason I prefer the 360 experience and controller to all.

Like the PS3 fine, like PC gaming fine, but I have much more games on 360 than the other 2 platforms.

Wont even consider Wii. Gimmicky and I just dislike the game selection. I had various Nintendo consoles growing up and i've played enough Mario, Zelda, Metroid etc games that they are just old and tired gaming experiences now.

Right now i'm running around in "Just Cause 2" blowing things up. Yeay stress relief!

im not a console basher as i beleive everyone has there own personal taste, however i prefer ps3 as its umatched for features(that i use)
it has a very good online experiance to,with virtually zero lag and supporting upto 256 guys in one game,an its free:)

So I'm leaning towards Xbox since it has more games, supposedly better graphics, better online service and community even though you have to pay, and netflix/zune account.

It would have been an easy decision but the PS3 with wifi-N, blu-ray, and standard 1080p is intriguing. From what I read, Xbox plays 720p standard but is compatible with 1080p for most games. It's confusing because I keep reading that xbox has better graphics but ps3 is the one with standard 1080p which is weird.

Anyways, anyone want to chip in to cement my decision on the xbox 360 slim?

The "pick what games you like best and what console your friends play" doesn't help that much because I don't really know that much about the exclusivity of games besides halo (xbox) and god of war (ps3) and my friends don't really game much. I'd essentially be gaming with random people online or multiplayer when friends come over.

I switch between PC and Xbox. Built a gaming PC 2 years ago and really don't buy too many games for PC unless its on big discount or if its a genre that blows on consoles (RTS mostly or a game that will have awesome mod support). I only play online games with Xbox because I just plain don't like the system PC games use. Too open to weirdness. With Xbox you know what you will get and everyone is more or less on a level playing field.

I wouldn't say it has better graphics since the PS3 has more upside due to blu-ray but the games for the most part when compared look exactly the same. You do get access to Zune + Music Pass which is awesome. You also get to use Netflix (PS3 and Wii have it also) which again is awesome. What it's going to boil down to is the game library and whether or not you want to spend that money on XBL Gold subscriptions annually. The rest is purely opinionated and subjective.

Go with whatever you have the most friends on and whatever console has the games in their library that you would like to play.

LOL - you are a such a dog josh.

I'm going with xbox due to the larger game library and the better online community and service - $4.50 a month for a better service doesn't phase me in the least. I can always get a blu ray on the side if I really need one - which I don't right now.. I really shouldn't choose a gaming system based on the quality of watching movies.

I can't say I have a favorite platform. For some games, I have to go with my PS3. But for other games, teh Wii is better. Like Tiger Woods Golf, I got that for the Wii instead of the PS3 because even though the graphics aren't as good, it's way more fun to swing the controller like a golf club instead of hitting the X button 3 times on the PS3 controller. But for serious racing games, the PS3 wins hands down because of the graphics.

You'd be surprised how many folks have turned their PS3's into primary blu-ray players though as opposed to being what it is which is a gaming console.

Did GT5 come out yet? If not, PS3 doesn't have any serious racing games yet.

Yea I have both consoles, well all 3..lol

I usually say get both just for the exclusives each system has. But if you have to choose between the 360 and PS3, I usually say PS3 just for the Blu Ray player.

No, but GT4 works on it still. Well, at least on mine, I have an original 60GB with the Emotion Engine hardware emulator for playing PS1 and PS2 games. Anyways, maybe I should have just said racing games. Burnout: Paradise isn't realistic at all, but looks great and is fun to play. But GT5 comes out soon, although I'm expecting to be extremely let down by it from what I've seen, especially for the five years it's been since GT4 came out.

I used to be amped up for GT5 but lost interest about 2 years ago. Just kinda grew tired of waiting around. Went and purchased Forza instead and love it.

Same for me on GT5. I'm not buying it launch day. I';; ask for it for Christmas, but if I don't get it, no big deal. And I've only got the original Xbox, so can't get the latest Forza. I do have the original, though, good game. And they've gotten at least 2 versions of Forza out since GT4 came out.

I think Forza 2 was out before GT4 but they did release Forza 3 in the mean time.

Actually, GT4 and the first Forza launched in 2005, then Forza 2 came out in 2007 and Forza 3 in 2009. So they did manage to make 2 games since the last Gran Turismo came out. And Forza has always had damage, while GT never really has. I think GT3 had suspension damage, but they have never had body damage until GT5.

I have a PS3, 360, PSP, and a Wii (that i paid $38.57 for :D)

Each has it's own advantages, but PS3 is my favorite.
-I like the the controller much more for the most part (i like how the xbox joysticks have dimples, but for everthing else, PS3>Xbox)
-I also like the dashboard better, the 360 is loaded with so much advertisements and just seems unorganized in comparison.
-The graphics are better on PS3. Not by much, but it's there.
-Free online play, and as far as actual gameplay is concerned, I don't notice a difference between it and xbox. Although I will say the messaging system on xbox is far better.

Pros of the 360 (for me)
-Most of my friends have 360s rather than PS3s
-I like the joysticks on the controller better for sports games
-Wired headsets (which i prefer to bluetooth) can plug into the controller rather than the console

I have a blu-ray player that streams netflix so the fact that PS3 can't stream without a netflix disc doesn't really bother me.

I will always prefer the actual gameplay in FPS games on a PC (it trumps console every time) but i would much rather sit on my couch in front of my LCD than in front of a computer, plus NONE of my friends are on PC.

The wii is good for the sports games, mario party, mario cart, andddd... oh wait, I guess that's about it. It's main use is when I have a few people over.

Well I had a well thought out post but I got a database error. Thanks AF!

Anyways, I'm pumped - got the XBox 360 Slim 250 GB Holiday Bundle (1 Wireless Controller, 1 month free xbox live gold card, Forza 3, and Alan Awake) for $299.99 free shipping no taxes.

I'm sure PS3 is sweet but Xbox was right for me since I like the controller better, it has built in Wifi-N, I can stream Netflix eliminating shipping and receiving DVDs, I can stream my Zune Pass account for music and videos to my sound system, hook up my Zune Player, better online community setup and supposedly less lag.. also excited for games like forza 3, halo, gears of war, mass effect series..

Just got a ps3 and so far not sure what to do with it. Primarily gonna use it to stream movis from pc upstairs to my lcd. (360 is downstairs)
Have had my 360 for 2 years now and for me the 360 controller is FAR superior, ps3 one seems too light and seems kinda cheap feeling imo.
As i said i just got the ps3 2 days ago so i haven't even messed with it much, got it for 150 with 3 or 4 games from some dude who was hard up for cash.
Only gonna spend money on ps3 exclusives though i don't really recall more than 1 or 2 that sounded interesting. Might try hacking it just for the hell of it.

I enjoy my hacked wii but don't play it much. Kids love it, mostly cause i have 50 or 60 games on a external.

I'm a 360 guy though as that is the system i buy games for... of the games i'm looking to get soon they will be bought for the 360

You should try out Demon Souls and MGS4, good games for the PS3 imo.

Uncharted, God of War, Heavy Rain, Fat Princess, and Ratchet & Clank.

Forgot about uncharted... Should i start with the first for sure?? I'm sure it's a lot cheaper obviously but for storyline purposes does it matter?

And i read up on heavy rain before it came out, was/is it as good/fun to play as it sounded??
