favourite contacts keep disappearing

I sort-of had this on 1.5. Although in my case it was people who I'd removed from my favourites kept re-appearing on it.

I had to delete those contacts completely and re-enter them to stop it happening.
 
I get the same thing as thisnameistaken. Contacts that I removed keep going back on the favourites list.
 
Not sure if this helps, but you can't directly add new contacts to Favourites. You can add existing ones from your Contacts (in GMail they're shown as belonging to HTC Favorites) and contacts are also added automatically depending on frequency of use (shown as Frequently contacted on the handset list). The latter may be why ones removed reappear later.
 
i dont really understand what your saying slug. i get confused about gmail and all the other contacts its not as simple as just having 1 phonebook! i have tried adding them through the favourites group and through the widget.

Not in my case - one of the "problem" contacts was a family member who I don't think I've ever called!

Actually that's exactly what it is.... a single list of contacts (All contacts) that can be assigned to one or more groups, either pre-determined by Google (HTC Favorites, Family etc) or created by the user.
