Fed Ex lost my HTC Incredible

On a much happier note, when I was in McDonald's yesterday, a man dropped a 20 dollar bill out of his pocket. It fell by my feet when I was eating, I picked it up, ran him down and gave him the money back.

Not all Americans are bad, just most :)

This is a true story.

Best of luck to you joefrog!

Truth. And I'm pretty sure it's direct signature, not indirect signature. Indirect signature means anyone at the address or a nearby address (at the driver's best judgment) can sign for it. Direct signature means the person on the box has to present ID and sign for it.

VZN should be shipping these direct signature, IMO. When mine came, they didn't leave it at the door nor did they leave it at the apartment office (like they usually do if I'm not home). They took it back to the FedEx station. My wife went to go get it, but she couldn't sign for it since my name is on the box.

actually it is indirect... saw that when i received my shipping info.

Mine was an indirect signature.

Okay, so I went to the Fed Ex office and was told they have what they need to file their security claim. Then for the first time today, I was told I had to call a number to file a claim too.

When I called the number they gave me, the rep got an attitude with me when I said the replacement value of the phone was about $600. Then when I couldn't provide some info he asked for, he said this is why we normally want Verizon to file the claim. I told him that Verizon didn't mess up, Fed Ex did. That really got him going. I also told him that I had been previously told Fed Ex would contact Verizon about replacing the phone. I told him to calm down and just tell me what info I needed to get for him and I would get it.

So, I just finished filling out the claim form and sent it back to Fed Ex. This is getting ridiculous.

wow man, i feel for you. this is absolutely ridiculous. such a shitty story. i hope it all works out for you

Yes it is, sorry about your trouble, make sure you keep copys of everything you fill in, in case they accidentaly o.O lose it, then you always have a copy to fax there and then :P

Good luck

Before every call, get the persons name and employee ID. That goes for any Customer Service company. It's a tough habit to remember, but it will help a lot when they turn on you, hang up on you, incorrectly file the claim, or don't file the claim at all.

man oh man, the incredible sho has some damn incredible stories tied to it in its young life. Hope it works out. If the driver doesnt get it back for you I'd be making someone loan me a droid x as soon as it released... until my incredible came in...

That's not a bad idea, but as I've said before, Verizon puts all of this on Fed Ex (and rightfully so). Verizon already told me the only way I'm getting a replacement phone is when Fed Ex buys me one.

So I am starting to feel a little bit like I live in Mayberry. I live on a qiuet cul-de-sac with just a few neighbors but I feel like if this happened and one of my neighbor's workers had the phone my neighbor would probably offer to pay for it.

I am a nice person with vengeful tendencies. I would probably create a little flyer and put one on every neighbor's door saying what happened and not to trust the people who live/work at ___ Street name. Perhaps that would get you some results:-)

My shipment is designated "indirect signature" as well. It says I can sign for it, or a neighbor, or a building manager, etc. So basically some bum can wander in front of my house and say he's the building manager and sign for my package. That won't happen though, because I am camping my porch all day tomorrow. No fedex truck will be able to escape my interrogations!

In all seriousness I'm truly sorry you've had to put up with this. Fortunately, though, it sounds like the ball is rolling in the right direction. Best wishes! :)

That's BS. You placed an order with Verizon and they never provided the phone that you purchased. They are responsible for providing the phone to you, not Fedex. Verizon should ship you out another phone and they need to file the claim with the shipper, not you.

JMO.

Agreed, you never received the phone, so its not your fault, you should demand another phone from Verizon, and ask them to expedite it

I'm sorry but I think that LaFex-Ed Quinisha NEEDS MORE PEOPLE. She is correct, I used to work for an online retailer. It does take 5-7 business days for a tracer to be complete. Then it will take FedEx MONTHS to cut VWZ a check for their mistake. That's not your problem, though. Verizon needs to step out and get another phone to you ASAP.

My DInc #2 from Asurian was delivered via FedEx to the WRONG HOUSE!!! The people opened the box and did the right thing and walked over to my house. I was mad as hell! Who opens sh!t when there name clearly isn't on the package...

Having ran an online auto parts store for a few years has taught me that proof of shipment to the proper address is as far as a companies liability goes, and I think it is rightfully so. Verizon is not responsible for this guys asshole neighbors or for FedEx's crappy drivers ( or even in rare cases, a dishonest customer). Verizon most certainly should not have to ship out a free $600 phone and then just hope that Fedex pays them sooner or later. Any reparations on their end would be 100% out of good will, not necessity.

I think what is needed here is a good old write in campaign. Sometimes the only thing that gets these companies off there asses and moving in the direction of good customer service is a whole shit ton of people out there writing/calling/emailing them to tell them "I see what you guys are doing and I am not going to be using your services ever again if I don't see some sort of resolution for this poor guy VERY SOON!"

If OP (and everyone else reading this thread) want to take some steps towards ensuring fair treatment by large coroprations in situations like this, take some time to contact fed ex and tell them the following:
1. You will make sure to never take them into consideration when you have a package that needs to be shipped
2. Tell them how frequently you ship packages (pad your estimates here)
3. Let them know the reason for your decision not to use them again (joefrog91's horrible experience with fed ex and their refusal to promptly remedy a blatantly negligent error on their part.)
4. Tell them about this forum post or even link them to this thread (if your correspondence is through email) so they can see first hand that it is out there for tens of thousands (if not more) to see.

Good luck to OP. I hope this situation has a good resolution for you. I am sending in a correspondence through their website pointing them in this direction and expressing my displeasure with what I thought was a reputable shipping company.

I tried the reverse look up but nothing came up. Not sure why.

I plan on contacting Fed Ex Corporate next. First, I'm going to see if the local supervisor will help get my claim settled quickly. If he says he has no control over that, then I'll call their corporate office and see if I can rattle some cages.

Like I said before, Verizon is not going to send me another phone without someone paying for it. They've flat out refused to do that.

I'll keep ya'll posted.

What you need to do is talk to someone higher up at verizon. Its their responsibility until the phone arrives to YOU. Especially since you can't choose the carrier. I have had to sip all kinds of things back for warranty claims and have been told the shipper (verizon) is responsible for the package arriving...

Fedex sucks. Like I said earlier this happened to me also and thankfully I'm good with that neighbor.

If neither companies want to help get in touch with a news station. I'm sure they'll be all over this, make sure to mention how long you had to wait for the phone in the first place and how neither company is stepping up to make things right.

Goodluck again

This may be a shot in the dark. But, I once had a similar thing happen, and went through the same shit.

The pain in the ass you have to go through to file a complaint with fedex or any courier for that matter is by design. For every 1 person that goes through the claim process, who knows how many just give up.

Awww... but I had an ace up my sleeve. I payed with a credit card and complained to them. They indeed reversed the payment and I got my money back. Maybe something you can try if all else fails.

Good luck brotha

If your situation is still stuck I would maybe try going to FedX office and have them call VZW and stay while they did and get the paper work done so the entire process can at least start on getting your phone replaced .
Sorry it doesnt look like they are going to get the one back from the babysitter as she seems to be in denial of knowing what they are saying.Really all you know is the phone was delievered to that house , but not who has possession of it .

I think it's time you contact your credit card company (I assume you paid with a credit card?). If it was sent with Indirect Signature Required, then you have a confirmation that the package was delivered to the wrong house. Have the credit card company reverse the charge, and see how fast Verizon changes their stance and how fast they get FedEx on the ball.

As part of the upgrade pricing (~$200 for the phone) you entered into the 2-year contract. Verizon can, and likely will, charge you the full retail price of the phone if you don't activate it within X number of days after receiving it.

On a much happier note, when I was in McDonald's yesterday, a man dropped a 20 dollar bill out of his pocket. It fell by my feet when I was eating, I picked it up, ran him down and gave him the money back.

Best of luck to you joefrog!

Two days ago at the deli I was waiting in line to pay for my sandwich, and the guy in front of me dropped a wad of cash out of his pocket and didn't realize it. I saw at least two 50's there as he started walked away. He was very happy that I pointed it out to him!

Well, I have started the process. I received an email response back saying Fed Ex has my claim. I work way across town from the Fed Ex office and by the time get off work the supervisor I've been dealing with is off. I'm going to call him during my lunch hour to see if he will help push through the claim. I will attempt to get Verizon on the line as well.

Yes, I paid with a credit card. I'll check with Verizon to make sure they aren't going to bill me for the full price of the phone or charge me for the days it's not been activated. Having the charges reversed was one of my first thoughts, but then I would have to get back in line for another DINC. I'm hoping I can get them to work together and get me another phone ASAP.

So do you feel that you have exhausted all of your options with the neighbor that signed for the phone?

I would take a friend with you and try to have a rational conversation with them and see if that works. Maybe once they realize that the phone is of no use to them, they'll give it up.

Some of you guys put way too much faith in Corporations. Like I said before, sometimes you have to take the matter in your own hands. You don't have to be Rambo about it. Just walk on over there when you know they are home and knock on the door. If they don't answer, just keep trying at a latter time. At some point someone will talk to you.

Don't be confrontational, just inquisitive. Try to get as many facts as you can. Babysitter has it, get the phone #. Also point out that the phone is pretty much useless to anyone else other than you since it's a brick until the password is entered.

Many issues can be solved this way. Once they put a face to a name, who knows, they might have a change of heart and get your phone back. It doesn't hurt to try, just don't accuse anyone of mischief and keep it civil.

Once these options have been exhausted and you still don't get your phone, then unleash the fury. ;)

First - don't bother with the neighbors. Whether or not there was a babysitter - they clearly don't want to be bothered. More likely, they are thinking they are getting a phone out of it. If they haven't stepped up yet to do the right thing, they are not going to. You are just wasting your time and you never know when things might get hostile. Don't accuse them either - you might walk out to find your property vandalized one morning.

Second - Although you might want to force Fedex into pressing charges against the babysitter - you have no control over the situation. Although you are being greatly inconvienenced, it is Fedex that will actually take the loss. Therefore they (and only they) can press charges. In reality it won't happen because it will cost them more time and energy than the ~$560 phone value.

Third - even if the phone is blocked, the neighbors/babysitter will still probably sell it on Craigs list or EBay. They could care less about screwing another person and just want to get some $$$ out of it.

Fourth - take it up with your credit card company. I agree that this is probably going to be the quickest solution for you. If you bought the phone on an upgrade, hopefully Verizon will allow you to buy another one at the upgrade price even if the situation hasn't been completely settled.

Fifth - I'm sorry! This is a crappy situation with a resolution that is basically out of your hands. You don't have much recourse but to let the companies involved figure it out. That being said, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. So I'd recommend that you call each company involved everyday seeking a resolution. Try not to loose your cool with them, but also be firm and expect results. Don't let them walk all over you.
