few Questions about Gingerbread..

Hello mates.
I have a rooted HTC Desire with android 2.2 and what i want is to have Gingerbread 2.3, which is still unofficial yet.
i read about flashing ROMs that are based on gingerbread but i noticed that all of them requires flashing an updated radio, which concerns me because if something goes wrong while flashing the radio the phone is "dead", and currently i cant afford a new phone.

so my questions are:
1) if i downloaded the required radio for a ROM i wish to flash, and checked the MD5, what are the chances of bricking my phone? is there any other things i should do? (i searched Google but i didn't find a good tutorial that i can depend on...).

2) will the official Gingerbread update update the radio too?

3) is it worth waiting for the official update? :)

P.S i have 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
and i want 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.08

Your radio will be fine. No need to replace if you don't have any.problems.

Flashing radio is fine provided the file is fine and you know what you're doing
 
I was on 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27 for a longgggg time. I flashed many different roms with that radio and by in large it was fine except for couple of tiny niggles. So I wouldnt change the radio unless you run into a problem and you're confident in your ability to change it.

Simply ignore that. I'm on GB and still use the original Radio without any issues.
 
Actually sorry I lied I do have a problem with my GPS on GingerVillian, but that still has nothing to do with the radio, I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet though.
 
update: I flashed Leedroid GB 3.0.7 so far everything seems to work fine except that i got around 1050 in Quadrant test which i believe has nothing to do with the radio :) (i dont think this score reflect the real performance coz the rom is blazing fast :)
 
just a idea on the GB theme remember when we got 2.2 lots of people could not get it because orange forgot to tell us we needed to up date to 1.8 or 2.0 what are the chances that that will happen again ?
