Root few questions about google wallet

Im new to the nexus 4 forums. as soon as my phone gets here i plan on rooting. anyway i read the sticky about google wallet and have few questions about this.
1. I thought i read a thread somewhere stating that this is not necessary anymore. is this true?
if it is still necessary...
2. does this only apply to the google wallet app? right now i have a cc linked to my playstore account. this is different that google wallet right?

1. It is not necessary any more. I forgot to reset the app and have changed ROMs a few times, which also includes a factory reset. I still use Wallet all the time to make purchases.
2. The CC you have linked to your Play account will be listed in Wallet. If you want to use a different card with Wallet you can add it and then set it as default. Don't think of Play and Wallet being separate, think of it as your Google account.

Another piece of advice since you will be rooting. Wallet will give you a warning at the top that your device is not supported after you root. Ignore it, Wallet still works just fine.

Nice, I was actually wondering about that myself. Maybe someone can answer my inquiry; Can you load up gift cards (Google play gift cards) into Google wallet to use for purchases that accept Google wallet OUTSIDE OF THE PlAY STORE (like a gas station or restaurant)or do play store credits only function in the online realm of "the play store"?

I've never tried it, but I am thinking a Google Play gift card could only be used on Google Play.
