Root Few questions on CM7 installation

I installed CM7-TG-Reloaded so I can at least get my bank app to work again (they just upped the requirements to Android 2.3.3) while I decide which 4.+ phone and carrier I might switch to.

But 2 things I can't figure out. One is how do you put back the shutdown animation? Right now it's just a small black window with the phone background blurred saying "Power off... shutting down." I got the startup animation back in place and working fine, which is in a different location than what it was on the stock ROM, but I can't find anything about the shutdown animation yet that works.

And the 2nd thing is that I can't figure out where to change the startup and shutdown sounds to go with the animations. There used to be a "hidden" directory on the stock ROM, which is no longer there (unless I have a setting wrong somewhere and I'm just not seeing it is always possible).

I was surprised that installing CM7 didn't overwrite my splash.img that I created for the phone, at least that was one less hassle to figure out where that was moved to :D.

There's also a ROM Manager included in CM7 which wants to install an update. Will that update the version of CMW I have installed? (which I don't want, I just downgraded from 5.5.0.4 to 5.0.2.7). So should I let the ROM Manager update? Do I even need it since I manually installed CMW and maybe I should just uninstall it?

Thanks for any help.

Edit: I got the startup sound working (and I really don't know how, didn't change anything, it just started working). But I'll take it!

On some of the last ones I built I had boot sounds.

Also, the MT has the 'hidden' partitions. They have the boot and shut down stuff for the OEM ROM.

I'm starting to think it's just not possible to add the shutdown animation to CM7. I've dug up quite a few old topics about it, but none of them work so far. It would have been nice, but really not necessary and I can happily live without it for the other benefits.

I'm amazed at how long the battery is lasting though compared to the stock ROM. I don't even have Juice Defender installed yet so I could get a better sense of battery life, and I can leave wi-fi on all day and still have over 60% left at the end of the day. With stock ROM, I'd have to be sure wi-fi was always kept off, and I'd be lucky if I ended the day of normal use at 20%. I can only guess that the difference is a lot of the crappy bloatware removed with CM7.

It has to do with some of the optimazations used on CM7. The kernel was modified and the OS is better at getting out of the way.

Three full days, 72 hours, with wi-fi off and my phone is at 70%! I'd be lucky if I could make it 12 hours and stay above 30% before under the same circumstances. I wish I had tried CM7 long ago. I had tried MIUI before, but response on it was sluggish, it locked up and rebooted for no reason several times just during the first day (and I hated the phone dialer on it), so I went back to the stock ROM after that, which worked pretty great, other than the battery drain.

It's like having a new phone again! :D
