Root FFC with Liquid Smooth 3.2

I put Liquid Smooth 3.2 on my wife's thunderbolt and she is having issues with the front facing camera - it doesn't work! I have read a lot of threads about the image being inverted, but we aren't even getting that. The camera doesn't give the option to switch and I even dl'd skype and it only shows the back camera as an option. It is like it doesn't even detect the hardware as being there.

Any ideas about what went wrong and how to fix it?

The about phone info is:

Android Version 2.3.7
Baseband 1.48.00.0906w_1, 0.0.78.0906w_2
Kernel 2.6.35.14-imoseyon-5.03AOSP+ root@ubuntu #54
CPU Info ARMv7 Processor rev 1 (v71)
Mem Info 237 MB / 582 MB
ROM Version liquid.mecha.20111101.15702
Build Number Liquid Gingerbread v3.1

if that helps. Actually, ADW is on MY phone. I think hers is just the sense one or whatever comes with liquid smooth. I didn't change it.

yeah the kernel will fix it. you can find out what launcher at the bottom of settings.and change in liquid settings-->goodies-->switch

I know this may be a silly response--

but you have tried opening camera, clicking Menu-> switch camera. ?

FWIW these guys are probably right-- i think im on the kernel they are referring to also

yeah, the option isn't there. Just switch to video. I just doublechecked to make sure I wasn't loosing it! :p

so I noticed that I am running an older version of liquidsmooth than what is available now (ROM Version liquid.mecha.20111101.15702 vs liquid.mecha.20111118.145810). It also appears that the new version has Imo's 5.1.0 kernel.

So should I just update to the newest liquidsmooth?
Will that wipe her apps and data? (using the instructions on the LS page)
Is there an OTA update system for Liquidsmooth? If so, where do I find that?
Or, should I just DL and flash the kernel?

well, I wiped the cache partition and flashed the LiquidSmooth 3.2 ROM and it didn't seem to fix the camera, had some stability issues, and limited my data speed to 1x, so I am restoring my backup and maybe I'll try to flash just the kernel tomorrow.

OK, so I was an IDIOT and had my battery door off while I was testing. That is why I had such crappy reception! So, I flashed back to:

Android Version 2.3.7
Baseband 1.48.00.0906w_1, 0.0.78.0906w_2
Kernel 2.6.35.14-imoseyon-5.1.0AOSP+ root@ubuntu #65
CPU Info ARMv7 Processor rev 1 (v71)
Mem Info 379 MB / 582 MB
ROM Version liquid.mecha.20111118.145810
Build Number Liquid Gingerbread v3.2

The stability issue seems to have at least gotten better, maybe fixed, but I still have the camera issue...

Oh, and its the LauncherPro launcher that is installed.

Sounds like a fresh install of 3.2 is in order. I would format /system too. Sucks to have to reinstall all your apps but it should resolve your camera issue (unless it's hardware related).

it worked before i rooted it at the beginning of november. I might just tell her to deal with it for a while, then flash her to miui once it gets some more bugs worked out or something. I guess if that is the only thing that doesn't work, then that isn't bad for a hacked phone - she might just have to use a mirror to put on her lipstick for a while!

Although the liquid smooth rom has been a good one, but miui is getting a lot of attention!

reinstalling the apps isn't nearly as bad as redoing the data. I don't understand why just about every app nowdays doesn't include some sort of online backup or at least an import/export feature. Seems like it should be mandatory for mobile apps!

That's what Titanium backup is for.

Another stupid suggestion: but here goes...just tested on mine (running LS 3.2 with 5.1). You don't get the back/front camera option by hitting the "menu" button. You probably already know this, but you select the first onscreen option (all the way to the left) and that allows you to toggle back/front. Sorry if this was too obvious and you already tried.
