File on internal SD memory that I cannot delete?

Toggles are shortcuts to settings like Wi-Fi etc. I doubt you would want to remove these even if you could. It's certainly not malware of any kind.
 
Yes Toggles are, but I don't think this particular zip file is in any way required by my phone for implementing toggles, as I have just done a factory reset, wipe cache and installed a new (to my phone) ROM LiquidSmooth and therefore I wouldn't have thought this old file would be required by this new Kernel and ROM.
 
Have you actually had a look what's inside the zip? Personally I'd leave it. It is unlikely it is used by your new ROM or would cause problems if you did delete it, but you never know. The fact you can't delete it is enough, for me, to leave it alone.
 
Inside the Zip are two Directorys: META_INF and system.
Inside META_INF there are three files: CERT.RSA, CERT.SF, MANIFEST.MF, plus a Directory: COM and inside this is another Dir. Google, and inside that another Dir. Android, and inside that two files Update-binary, and Updater-script.
inside the System Dir. another folder: App and inside that SystenUI.apk

I’m not likely to let this alien folder sit on my drive, and if necessary I will copy all the other files on that drive and then format the drive itself before coping the good files back again, but this is a bit formidable I’m sure there must be a way to un-protect this file and delete it. I’ll keep trying I don’t easily let things beat me if I can help it.
 
guess we will learn the hard way that some files are needed by the system files to make the rom work on your phone.
your choice to delete them but. I highly advise keeping those files and go on google and learn what those files are before deleting anything...... again your choice to do as you please! good luck to ya..
 
I often make a copy of all the files on the phones internal SD and I can see that this file only recently appeared probably after I had been trying a few new ROM’s however I reverted back to my original AOKP ROM and I feel sure this file is debris. Also I had been able to rename the DIR it came in and also move it to within another Dir which I called ‘Delete-me’ so If it was required surly this would have crippled my system?

You're describing what sounds like an update OTA file for the system UI.

Take any updates lately and tell the system that you'd install later?
 
Lol pardon my dyslexia - I meant "OTA update file" lol. :o

Let's explore. Apologies if I say anything you already know.

So - on your Note 2, your internal storage, unlike an SD card, uses a more sophisticated filesystem that allows for ownership and permissions - just like on your pc.

And Samsung is not above pointing at the internal storage two different ways, where that file might really be in a another folder, sharing the internal /sdcard folder space.

In such a case, you may have to delete it from the original folder.

Next -

Are you rooted?

I checked various dev projects and several files exist for the Note 2 by that name, either to enhance the stock toggles or return your phone to a stock rather than custom rom behavior.

If that applies to you, it's maybe not an OTA file and you can delete it with a root-capable file explorer - I use X-plore.

Either way, you've given a perfect description of an installer zip file.

Sounds like a flashable zip that either was leftover from previous rom dealings or was a byproduct of the LiquidSmooth updater script. If they added the stock toggles after the fact, the dev may have forced a secondary push & flash in recovery (rom.zip + the toggles.zip) rather than recompiling the rom to include it natively. Should be able to delete it with a root enabled file explorer as Early mentioned.

I just tried using X-plore but still had no luck deleting this file; I had also previously tried deleting it with root-Explorer.

As has been said I think its probably is a flashable zip that was left over from a previous ROM, but as I recently tried several I wouldn’t be sure which one left this detritus behind.

Not sure how I could find and delete it from the original folder.

Could I force a change of ownership property on this file somehow?

If you couldn't delete it as root something is wrong. Did you set up X-plore like this and grant it rights from SuperSU?

Yes I have X-plore set up exactly as in the posted screen-shot.

I have also connected to my PC and tried deleting this file but the failed as well.
 
It certainly looks like some sort of (OTA?) update zip. You could try installing it (After taking a nandroid backup naturally)

It's unlikely to be harmful, might even be useful. I share your suspicion, but with a Nandroid you can always revert to EXACTLY the state before you installed it.
 
Finally I’ve done it!

Using a Linux terminal would be a sharp learning curve for me (although I would enjoy the challenge, take me back to when I used to have to do MS-DOS commands in config.sys Etc.) so I decided to first try another option alluded to in this thread; restore my nandroid backup of LiquidSmooth ROM . . . and then I was allowed to delete the file.

Thanks guys for all your support with my issue, it’s been much appreciated. :)
 
I recalled at one point of time I renamed a file that had a .zip n changed it to .jpg n then it deleted. Lol
