Finally mounted Eris to Bike!!

I've used Cardio Trainer - it's mostly designed for runners, but will track biking also. I haven't used it a lot (most of my biking is staionary, so I only use the workout logging feature for that) but it has a nice interface, and does record avg speed, route, distance, etc. You can also set it up to give you periodic voice updates ("your speed is...", "you've traveled...") which may or may not be inspiring! I"ve been pretty happy with it, although I use only a fraction of its capabilities.

Nice job on attaching the eris to your bike. I'm a big fan of My Tracks, and would love to not have to fish the eris out my jersey pocket when I want to check it, but how do you deal with glare? Doesn't the eris just look like a smeary mirror when the sun's out?

Have you done a crash test to see if the Eris stays in the mount? Could you crash at say 24 mph on asphalt? ;)

Sorry for the delay in response....

I haven't crashed yet but I have gone over some not so smooth areas at speed and it never moved from the holster.

Yes depending on how bright it is out and what time of day it is, sometimes it can be hard to see. If the sun is bright out depending on the time of day I turn the screen on and just lean over it a bit putting it in my shadow and I can see it fine.

they have anti glare skins for the iphone and itouch. you could get one of those and trim it to eris siZe and use that

Don't know if you've used or heard of MapMyRide.com, but they have an app out. It does track Speed / Pace. I'm really curious about this setup. I could put it on my bike and track my workouts that way.

I'll have to check out one of those holsters. I'm wondering if you could modify it to get rid of the "belt clip" part and do an actual bike mount that would be even more sturdy.

Was just refering to this page to put this together myself and noticed you ride a Specialized , by far my favorite way to ride . Been riding Specialized since 1995 , awesome bikes
