Root Finally taken the plunge into rooting...HELP!!!

On a side note my seller on ebay has contacted me to say it appears the latest batch of SD cards he recieved where faulty. Please return for full refund.
Maybe ebay is not totally full of scammers!!!

Maybe its not, or maybe thats an excuse. Or maybe he does think they are faulty when infact they are fake

Sorry not to have replied to the messages but i was out last night so was unable to play around with the phone.

So Leedroids new Rom has an issue with wifi. I thought i had downloaded an old version of the non A2SD version, maybe i am wrong. My software information on the phone says Software Number LeeDrOiD V2.3.

In order to get my wifi working for now can i flash an older leedroid ROM onto the phone, i have a copy of Leedroid 2.2f with A2SD. I did not use this intially as i had no partition on my SD card because of the issue's i was having with that at the time.

I guess now i could copy off the contents of my SD card, reformat my SD card throught the phone and add a partition, then reinstate the data onto the SD card with the 2.2f ROM and reflash the phone.

Would this give me wifi back again?

Have you definitely not partitioned your card yet?

If you haven't the above process should be fine.

Can't guarantee wifi will work on that version, but it works for everyone else. Worth a try.

By the way, did you restore data with Titanium back up or anything?

if so, do a factory reset and see if your wifi works. if it does, then your data restore caused the wifi issue.

Thanks for the quick and helpful response as always Danfrance.

The card I am using is the old original card. I have concisouless not messed about with it as I was getting very nervous of the whole process after the issues i'd had. The only card I tried to partition was the new one, but since that card is a load of s**t i have now given up on it.

I do have a spare 4gb sd card at home, so I might try to reformat and partition that one and keep the one I have now as an original and functioning card!

When I installed the 2.3 Rom yesterday during the initial set up of the phone I know that the phone was struggling to obtain an IP adress and it ended up skiping that step.

I have restored some data from a titanium backup but not the full amount, since I had the wifi problem during the restart of the phone I guess I can assume that the backup was ok and it is just a similar glitch to the wifi issue some other users are having with Leedroid 2.3 non A2SD?

Would i need to do a data wipe to put an older version of Leedroid on the phone, I know most people say that to put a later issue of the same ROM on a data wipe is not necessary.

You shouldn't have to data wipe, no. But I would recommend testing a data wipe without flashing a rom.

Its odd, because I got a force close on SOUND settings, whenever I opened it. However, it was a restore of WALLPAPER settings that caused it. Can't always know for sure until you factopry reset. You can always backup first

Definitely worth checking if a factory reset resolves the Wifi issue before going any further.. (I promise ;)

When you went through initial set up, did you specifiy your wifi settings at that stage then? It could even be a ROM standard setting that causes the issue? Lack of support of a certain channel your router is operating on?

Good advice, thanks.

I guess doing a factory reset and then seeing if the wifi will obtain an address is a good starting point. If it doesn't then I will just flash the older ROM onto it and hopefully that will sort it out.

During the initial setup when the phone asks if you want to connect using data or wifi, or data and wifi etc, i selected data and wifi. I entered the key for my wireless router and after a few minutes of sitting there saying "obtaining adress for BT blah blah blah..." it disconnected and try again and kept doing this to no avail.

As the wifes Desire (which is stock ROM unrooted) connects flawlessly to our router, as mine did before flashing, i would guess it must be something to do with the ROM as it happened before i tried a restore.

If thats the case Rastaman then it sounds like i might be better off partitioning my new card and flashing the a2sd build.

Would it be really cowardly of me to flash the older 2.2f version as that appeared to be extremly stable from what a lot of people have said, whereas the latest has a few teething problems?

hello gents.
Well I tried the easy route and did a factory reset, no joy with the wifi. so I have now added a partition to a different SD card and will shorlty flash leedroid 2.2f....hope it is more successful than last time!

At last, I now have leedroid 2.2f installed and wifi working, now just installing my Titanium backup...which might take a while.

Thanks everybody for your help, I am so relieved to have recovered from what I thought was a terminal situation.

What a great forum this is, so much help from everyone and so many friendly people willing to help.

Biggest lesson learnt for me is dont buy SD cards if they are cheap! We all live and learn I guess.

Thanks again for all the brilliant help, I have tried to thank people as I have gone along but if I have missed anyone I apologise.
