Help firmware I7500XEFJB2

what helped me was flashing with odin l3 firmware and then flashing this again. it seems it doesn't wipe all the data by itself for some reason (at least that is my guess) so it needs a vanilla installation. I'm just conjecturing, but that's what worked for me (using odin 3.98).
I also noticed that it doesn't take as long to flash as other firmwares. something is odd here

Cheers for that, did just that and now it works!

how is the unlocking? is there sliding needed or it's like 1.5?

i'll skip donut because i believe musty and drakaz & Co. soon will have fully functional eclair (bluetooth data fixed recently, camera near, 3d from donut).

Just got phone today. Off ebay for 280 usd. Nice surpise to see 1.6 came today.

Installed and seemed good. Tried out new gmaps but navigation does not work.

Just says 'searching for gps....'

Anyone else? I think my phone was australian version. I'm in us.

Recently flashed my deivce with IH8, can I use this over that?

also I'm confused should I wait for the musty mod release of 2.0 or go with 1.6??

any suggestions?

@tsphere you should have done a wipe/factory reset before or after your instalation if you do'nt you get a mix of firmware and settings;)
@Andronix no sliding unlock just the old press button on the side:)
@stehnd A bit to soon to say will have to wait and see over a few days

Have noticed it installs new drivers on the PC could this be for the new, New PC Studio

The camera is a big improuvement takes clearer photos and the flash seems brighter and you can toggle between photos and filming

Guys,
does the bluetooth works as file transfer?
Thx to buch85 for checking, but it doesn't work. I'm curious what would be needed to be hacked out for that on 1.6 as we almost have it working on 2.1, as it's very stable and nice firmware and it's looking as better choice for speed than gaosp at the moment. I hope I won't forget to ask on IRC later.

already got 3.95

but if it works with sweet as

update time.... yay 1.6

but if samsung officials are reading this...too little too late

still buying a nexus one

ryko: usually I don't need a wipe before nor after an odin flash. and indeed flashing another firmware and than this one solved my problem...

HTC keyboard force closes here too.

Other quick impressions:

Changes:

- the Samsung keyboard is not available (didn't use it anyway)
- the switchers app isn't here (too bad, I did use this to turn on wifi)
- some new settings in the settings
- the UI does seem snappy, however this is after factory reset
- my impression is that the browser is much faster than before
- search finally searches through almost everything, including contacts
- new market!
- google goggles work, need to wait until morning to test

We'll see about battery life.

All told this upgrade is pretty significant and I'm glad to finally have it.

You have switcher app widget. I think it is named power options or something... Works fine

This is finally a step in the right direction. If its as good as IL3, but with added 1.6 goodies then I'll be happy for at least another couple of months until the guys get 2.1 fully functioning :D

totally agree. Better anything than nothing. 1.6 gives us minimum reqs some of the fancier Google apps.

Talking about Google apps, is anyone having trouble with Google's voice search app on this new 1.6 firware. It keeps freezing up, havent managed to complete a single voice search with it. :(

Ok, just flashed - after reboot it stuck for ages on the Samsung logo, but finally booted. Did a master reset and then spotted the first few bugs:

1. Market downloads - originally showed all my previous downloads as normal, but after locking and unlocking the screen, the market only shows the 4 I had managed to redownload (not a biggie).
2. Used the power strip widget and nothing showed up - reboot cleared this
3. This is a biggie - can't set any APNs as this just shows a blank screen

Anybody else seen the APN issue?

Firmware only has selected few countries APNs. I had to manually enter Optus Australia settings to get things working.

Yep, I'd expect to have to enter these myself, I always have done. The problem is that when I select the screen to edit Access Point Names it comes up blank - totally black with just APNs at the very top.

I may try flashing again as I think I've seen something similar before - curiously enough when I did a one package flash with Odin.
