Help Firmware update helping hand

Hi there,

I'm running 2.3.3 on my S2 XXKE7 and thought it may be good to update it to 2.3.6 to benefit from battery life improvements.
I was going to download this one: XWKK2 from XDA forums.
I'm rooted and have my phone backed up on the SD card with Titanium.

Anyway, I was just wanting to check if this would work? I'm a bit nervous about bricking my phone and no matter how much I read XDA and the guides, they may as well be in Japanese for all the sense I can make of them.

Basically, I have a sim free UK non-branded white S2 and I want to update it to the latest software with ODIN. Do I have to go for a specific firmware or will any work? Will I lose everything and have to restore from a backup or will it just turn on, updated, but with everything in tact? And do I have to then muck about with updating kernels and base bands etc (which I don't have the foggiest what they are really - let alone how to update them! Ha ha).

I'm sorry this is probably a really amateur question but any help for a slightly thick person would be greatly appreciated. And I'm sure Santa would look down on you kindly!!

Many thanks ;-)

The XWKK2 firmware will be fine. It should be a no-wipe update but a backup is always a sensible precaution. You'll lose root so will have to reroot after the update - a KK2 CF-Root is available to do the job. No need to change the baseband (modem) from the one installed with the update.
