First battery pull.

Well the reboots happen more and more and now today I had to do my first battery pull. Anyone else have to do this? There are two things that bug me the most with smartphones, freeze ups / reboots and battery life. I was plagued with freeze ups with my droid incredible and now they seem to have continued with the nexus. The battery issue is to be expected, unfortunate but expected, the freeze ups are unacceptable. Now I Ask everyone, can I be optimistic that updates will completely take care of freeze ups and do you think ics is capable of updating to make the battery life better then what it currently is? I've really began to question my purchase off this phone. Thanks for your input.
 
Pc, laptops, tablets have same issues. Its related to overheat, software conflict,, full cache, memory leak- ram shortage...
 
I've only had to do one and I tracked it down to a problem with a shitty app which I promptly uninstalled
 
i dont think i ever had a random reboot or freeze on my old Incredible.. had it sincer launch to. my galaxy nexus has rebooted on my once so far since launch

I also had the random reboot problem, and never could figure out what was causing it. As you say the battery pull is the tried and true method for fixing it in the short term, but I also agree that this is unacceptable for a flagship device such as the Nexus. I returned my first GNex yesterday and have my fingers crossed that they don't return with the exchanged unit. If you're within your return/exchange window you may want to consider doing the same.
 
Thanks outatime. Thia's past history of posts is nothing but argumentative and what he posted in this. I just ignore him. Wise, yes it could be an option but I'm already on my second. My first had bad banding issues. I'll stay optimistic that they will send updates to fix these issues. I don't mind being a guinea pig for ics but I also didn't expect these issues at the rate they are happening.

This is surely the problem, and if you're having the same problem as you did on a previous phone it's likely to be a rogue app. Uninstall everything and then reinstall a few at a time until you find the culprit. I've never had a problem (4th android phone/tablet).

I have had some random reboots also, it seems to me to be related to when the phone is under heavy stress (maybe the RAM).

From what I have noticed on my reboots:

Happens when:

- Using PowerAmp
- long coding sessions when the same app is reinstalled dozens/hundereds of times via adb

(from what I have read about other people getting reboots)

Happens when:
- Streaming Pandora
- Using Navigation


While this is not nearly enough evidence, I'm wondering if some batches may have bad RAM, or some other processor type component that is overheating or giving out under load.

I would imagine most of this could be fixed by a software update but I am not sure yet. The more I learn about it, the more I will post and see if I can help :)
 
If you don't ever have to do a battery pull, then you ain't pushin your phone hard enough! Random reboots mean you're just tryin to get your money's worth! jk ;)
 
Let me add, I just pulled my phone from my pocket to take a picture at dinner with a bunch of friends. I clicked on the camera and what do you think happened...... Yep reboot! I hadn't had my phone out previous to attempting to take a picture for at least two hours. Explain that! This phone is really on my last nerve!
