First Sprint Bill for Evo... New Customer

Surcharges usually include 911 taxes, city taxes, county taxes, state taxes, country taxes, continent taxes, and earth taxes. (A little sarcasm at the end here if anyone missed it)
You forgot the galaxy tax, The Milky Way just keeps nickle-and-diming us.

What the $^%&#^&????

-<clip>-I'm going to fight these surcharges.

-<clip>-

BUT NO SURCHARGES!

Yea, right. On what grounds? You don't want to pay them?

T-Mobile charges my wife the same fees that AT&T and now Sprint now charge me. The Florida "communication tax" is obscene. It hits cable and satellite TV as well. T-Mobile charges them too. The only way to fight them is to vote out the people who put them in effect.

This is what I just got told in echat ...

I do apologize when all Evo phones were purchase at the stores they were to inform that the activation would be required and can not be waived. This is in the terms and conditions of the contract. When customers upgrade the phone online there are no activation fees.

:( Oh well. Looks like I'm paying the 36 activation and 75 ETF from ATT lol

If you were with AT&T you would have Universal taxes too :D

I'm with Sprint right now on the phone fighting the activation fee.

I'm telling them I broke contract with T-mobile and I have to pay them a large fee just to switch to their service.

They are granting me to pay until July 21st, and I told them, why don't you credit me the activation fee and I'll pay it on time on July 1st?

I am on hold now.

UPDATE: They did it!.....they decided to waive the activation since I have to pay T-Mobile $160 for ETF.

My new bill is now $103 and something (instead of $147)

yes!

Wow. Did you even offer to show them the email they sent that said about the percentage off?

I offered that and the lady said she saw the messages from e-care stating it was discounted, but that it was wrong. The front camera was the only cool thing over the Incredible to me, so I'll just stick with that until the other Motorola's with front cameras start hitting the ground with them.

My next question... are taxes calculated by area code or by billing address?

I live in New York and am paying about 6.5% taxes and fees total on my bill (and have a Missouri number -- ported from AT&T).

Then you are PROBABLY paying taxes & fees for Missouri. I recently found out I was paying PA taxes and fees (lived there until Sept '08) even though my mailing addy and area code was for MI. I was paying more in taxes and fees for 20 months and got a $70 credit on last month's bill.

Sprint Chat

This is what I use to make sure I always get through. I'm working on getting my Activation fee reversed as we speak. I'll mention that I'm paying $200 to come to Sprint. Hopefully "Robin" is a nice rep.

Update:

Agent (Robin): "As you are valuable customer so I am crediting the activation fee."
Agent (Robin): "And you will not be charged for the activation fee."

I LOVE SPRINT officially. Amazing customer service.

I am a new customer to Sprint. All I said was that I thought with my corporate discount (which is not even active yet, I bought at Wirefly and only just sent the request to activate the discount) and I thought activation fees would be waived. The rep said that is not true, and before I could even say anything else he said that as a new customer he would credit my activation fee, which he did, he even credited some extra fees too.

Oh and I also had trouble getting access to echat. I kept going to different contact screens until I found a link that worked, I had to log in for it to work.

I just checked out my bill when I read this post a minute ago and mine *was* $150.81.

But I did the Cox Enterprise discount deal when I first got the phone so I called them up and they were like you don't even have to pay an activation fee and took it off with no questions asked! I was amazed.

No idea why my bill is so darn high?? But it comes out to $108.31 now.

I'm pretty impressed with the customer service they have given me so far.

it was $36 activation fee plus tax (which I didn't realize they taxed) so it would be around $41-42 so that sounds about right.

Honestly it doesn't seem like they read past conversations. I'd say it's worth a shot. I had to talk to three different reps just to get a credit for something that actually wasn't my fault.

Never give up hope

Alex C: I can see that the charges are absolutely correct. The prorated charges will apply for the 3 days.
18:39:35 :
Alex C: The activation fee of $36.00 is also correct.

18:40:05 :
Alex C: But I can apply a Credit of $ 36.00 to your account.

18:40:30 :
Alex C: This will help you get the activation fee waived off.

140ish to 97 :)

I got my activation fee waved as well, just went into echat and asked if they could waive the activation fee because of the wait we all had activating the phone on the 4th...

He gave me a $45 credit on my bill. :D.. First bill is - $111.

For the record, the representative told me that they can waive activation fee if you ordered EVO online through Sprint store.

They made an "exception" with my case.

06/11/2010 12:00:57AM Agent (Steve): "And the great news is that you get the credit of $36 on the account and after the credit your balance is $104.17."

Loving Sprint customer service right now!
