Help first time charging :/

so i just got the galaxy s2 and i killed the battery to charge for the first time.
i've had it plugged in for a while, but i don't know if it's charging since it just has a no battery sign showing. it also vibrates from time to time, and restarts itself sometimes. help?

Weird it should show a charging icon when its switched off

yeah it shows a battery with a low green bar for a second, then it goes to a no battery sign

Try removing the battery and cleaning the terminals (phone and battery) with a dry cloth.
Then replace and try again.

well when i plug it in to the computer, it says USB malfunction.. so can it be the USB?

Can you charge through the PC? You should see a charging icon, until the screen times out. Then you can press the power button which should show you the charging icon again. IF phone really cannot charge, better take it back to the shop and get them to check it. And maybe get a replacement.

You may have discharged the battery to below its safety threshold, in which case it's possible that it will refuse to recharge.

Remove the battery for 5-10mins, replace it and, with the device still powered off, plug it into the wall charger and leave it for a couple of hours. If it still shows no sign of charging then it's probably DOA and will need to be replaced.
